If the team costs 1 billion or more and you net 30 million it will take over 30 years to break even. If you lend my $1,000 and I pay you back over a 33 year period, aren't you going to feel like you lost money?
The scary thing is after all the hub bub about this Billionare from Amherst and
Golisano and all these other guys, there's only 1 man standing in between both the Bills and Sabres leaving, Terry Pegula. - Buffalo-Sabres
2013
They brought in 256 million in Revenue.
Players salaries were 166 million plus 13 million in operating.
They made 77 mil last year. |

If the Clippers just were sold for 2 billion, every NFL team jumped up above that. |

In 20 yrs the worth of an NFL franchise will likely be doubled.
Say Pegula pays 1.2 Billion.
In 20 years he get 2.4 billion for it plus what he made over the 20 yrs. Add in the interest over that 20 yrs. It's a sound investment. - dadeadhead
Adjust for inflation and ask yourself,
Will he live even 20 years to see it. |

OK, got it. What about the Cowboys or Redskins?
The NBA is now the second most popular league and that Clipper sale inflated every NFL team, in my opinion. |

Bills will sell for much less.
Remember 500 million less is much less. |

Yes, you are right. Pegula news of his bid being over 1 billion is not 2 billion. I concede. |

It's going to be in the 1.2-1.4 range IMO.
Still over it's estimated value of 880 mil mark. |

I don't think he is to worried about making his cash back right away.. If he buys the bills as is yes the return would take longer to get back but yet It would turn into a great investment for his 'family' On the other hand a new stadium next to the harbor center!! That could bring a huge return.. Also this very we'll could lead to many many tax breaks for Pegula. None the less all the work and money he is putting into Buffalo it's incredible. |

A couple things, top bidder doesn't "win" a bid, Mary Wilson chooses who to sell the team to. If Team Bon Jovi comes in at $1.4B and Pegula comes in at $1.41B - she COULD sell to JBJ because she liked Slippery When Wet.
Two - I heard those numbers above are accurate - but have no way to verify or prove it to you.
In my opinion - Pegula matches any reasonable offer for the Bills, and gets the nod from Mary Wilson. |

You're tearing into people who want to be positive about this team and making poop up "Cup in 2 years", "now they're good cuz of Nolan/Trottier", "Jack Adams award for Nolan"
I don't recall anyone saying anything close to this stuff, yet you feel it's necessary to pile on a person who, heaven forbid, thinks the team is improving.
So much negativity on this board - the internet is such a pleasant place - stashu

Have you ever heard of being facetious? I didn't reply to the guy until he jumps all over me for not being a Teddy fan, nor am I a Teddy hater, just an observer. He is what he is, someone the owner wanted and i supported Homer by knowing some things from inside people from Nolan's previous turn with the Sabres that matched what Homer said. By the way, before you somehow got your ref duties you were very disrespectful to a certain blogger regularly and facilitated negativity on this board - the internet is such a pleasent place. I saw a lot of other negative things written over the last few days but none were addressed in public like I have been, why is that? What I wrote was a rational post, do you hold a grudge because I supported Garth who you despise and let everyone know it? - GilPerreault11
Totally!!
I could care less that you supported Garth, or if anyone did. I called you out on what you wrote because of the giant leap you made twisting how posts of positivity and wanting to give this new management time to lay out their own team strategy into ridiculous stretches that were never said.
You don't mind pushing on people who don't want to tear things down, but you are pretty upset and reaching for reasons when it happens to your posts...
I think all the Nolan talk is ridiculous, but I'm not jumping into the middle of that poopstorm.
Basically my point is that some people are positive, some are negative (about the team, not making personal judgments), and others are wait-and-see types. Getting on people for how they view the team is nuts, IMO. People can be any of those things, we all know that there are many of each type, and depending on what's going on with the team those "sides" fluctuate in numbers.
I'm not a guy who shouts at people for that sort of post (hell, look at all the crap spewed towards squirrel all the time for all the negativity), I'm a person who will argue points (stats, opinions, etc) and argue against poster bashing - that's part of why I wanted to be a ref here.
Anyways, if you want to take this private, that's cool, just PM me. If you (or anyone) wants to talk to my "boss", here ya go: http://www.hockeybuzz.com..._message.php?user_id=3355 |
