It's very relevant too a young player trying to get better. Zac is only 24. My point was that he is getting better. You can't get that from just last years stats. (Source?, where did you find the penalties drawn stats?)
My point with PP vs PK... The Flyers have a pretty good PK (84.4% kill) and PP (19.7%). They are better than most other teams. In a game with lots of penalties and equal per team... They should win (statistically). Look at the worst team; Florida has a PK (76.0% kill) and PP (10.0%). The Flyers should let Zac go in a game with them, with the goal he draws a penalty. If he takes one, we should be able to recover. He has to play a controlled game, which at 24 - he is still learning. - leon neon
I didn't provide any stats, just analysis and commentary. I'm assuming the statistics provided were valid.
So, just because he played well 2-3 years ago, you're willing to dismiss the fact that he REGRESSED last year and took almost twice as many penalties than he drew? You're cool with that, not to mention all of the dumb misconducts and suspensions while he offers little to no offense? That's the kind of player you want on your team? |

The stats are a bit flawed. If Rinaldo gets into a fight and takes a minor he gets 7PIM and 5PIM drawn. In reality, the other team gets 2min of PP time and the Flyers get none. Your stats will tell you that the Flyers get 5min of PP time and the other team gets 7min. |

I thought they were just minors/double minors. |

I guess I'm wrong. I remember looking at his penalty number from last season when I was analyzing Hartnell's. Rinaldo's penalty minutes +/- was pretty bad last season.
Coincidentally, Hartnell averaged 1.3PM per 60 and 1.6PM drawn per 60 |

How much did Mueller sign for with the Blues?
My feeling on Leino is no thank you. We really don't need a soft streaky player that hasn't produced in years. Grit we need Grit gosh darn it! |

Food for thought:
Why hasn't an NHL GM tried using one of the top women players in a bottom 6 role? No one seems to want to try it. You'd think one of the top 5 women players in the world would be able to play effectively on a 3rd or 4th line in the NHL. They would probably be similarly sized to a small NHLer like Gerbe, St. Louis, or Desharnais. |

Would be nice if there was ever a women's player who would be good enough to survive, but just keep this in mind... the Olympic women's teams (Canada, USA) practice (and play games) against junior-aged boys and lose. |

And the Leafs get Winnik for 1.3. That is a player who would have looked good in Philly.

I wish women's hockey would jump on the dead season that is the summer and give us something to watch. I'd tune in. |

They wouldn't be good enough.
Our freshman basketball team would scrimmage the varsity girls at our high school. Our varsity girls team competed for state titles and had Laura Harper, a girl who went to Maryland, won a national title and won NCAA Tournament MVP.
When we played them, we weren't allowed to jump and we would still blow them out by 20+ points in a 30 minute scrimmage. |

I think a lot of his problems stemmed from his hearing problem. He seems to think that's been rectified. He's a nice buy low candidate for the Pens. - PhillySportsGuy
I think his hearing problems have been operated on multiple times and maybe that concussion had something to do with the latest. That team (if Voukon is on the roster) is a fragile one with 2 guys having strokes/ blood clots, another guy with knee/concussion/hearing problems and coaches with well, problems with law and rules.
Funny how a team financed by a casino and with their history of tanking for players has no problem with people in hockey operations with criminal backgrounds.
I will never forgive Tocchett for his bootlicking of Mario " I would tie his skates for him"

I'm not familiar with the best women players, but if the best player in the world was very fast and very smart, I don't see why she wouldn't be able to at least compete for a spot. |

Who cares if he's been in this situation before?
He's getting paid a ton of cash, by 2 NHL teams. Sure he's probably unhappy, but it is what it is. There's things about everyone's job they hate & he has to learn to deal with it. Not many teams seemed that interested in his services, so he might be stuck here.
At that point he's got to make the best of it. If he's playing poorly or being a distraction that's partly on him. It's called maturity and professionalism. You make the best of a bad situation. - Jsaquella
I couldn't disagree more. I think you're defending something you can't defend. I think you're reaching. I didn't like how Ron Hextall handed Scott Hartnell either. I listened to Hextall explain how the meeting between him and Hartnell went. Hextall can butter it up all he likes but I felt that situation was handed very poorly, very unprofessionally and both Hartnell and Lecavalier have had no choice but to be pros and swallow their pride. |

There isn't currently a woman skilled enough to play, and they wouldn't be able to handle the physical game at the NHL level. Sadly, men simply can generate more massive bodies all things equal, plus I can't think of the mindset of a guy lining up a lady for a crushing open-ice bodycheck. It would be a no-win: either you let up and let her make a play or you follow through and get a woman's rights group showing up at practice the next day.
It's possible that a woman could play goalie one day, though. And I think Haley Wickenheiser played in the IHL. |

I will give you an AMEN to that.
Never quite could get into the LFL but I would go to a womens hockey game. Just to be in a cold rink in the summer with beer watching the game. Since I had to hang up the skates, its the only thing aside from playing at the blues festivals and outdoor concerts thats good in the summer.

I was going to ask, is it sexist if I say they wouldn't even have to wear bikinis to get me to watch? I really just want some hockey, and if the Olympics were any indication they're just as passionate and competitive and whatever about the sport (even if they can't beat juniors or whatever). |

I have a question for you. How do you feel about "boys" and "girls" or "men" and "women" segregated teams? If a woman was ever good enough to play on a "men's" team, shouldn't men be allowed to play on a "woman's" team?
My solution would be to not have gender assigned, and the best players make the team. |

Yeah, Shannon Szabados won the Alberta Junior A league equivalent of the Vezina way back when... she played a couple of games in a minor pro league too recently... didn't fare too badly.
But against NHL'ers? 5'9 150... ain't happening. |
