True and true. I think it will be the media who tries to make it a thing. VLC is a class guy so he wont make any waves, I'm pretty convinced of that. - MBFlyerfan
Agree 100%
VL didn't whine and female dog and cause a distraction when moved to LW or to the 4th line. I don't see him starting now. Hopefully, if he starts the season here, he either plays on Giroux's right side or he is given wingers that complement him.
I still think that if he is healthy, and is given ample time on the pp, he can score 30 goals. |

Look at Game 1. All 4 Rangers goals are scored on bad rebounds and/or (in 3 cases, both) lateral puck movement, 2 areas where Mason is markedly better than Emery. Mason may not stop the 2nd goal, but he probably gets the other 3. - jmatchett383
Honestly, whether they won that series or not, it wouldn't have made a difference where we stand today... still needing to improve at ES, on D, and waiting for the kids to get better/arrive, right? |

If they place him in a position to succeed (without having to sacrifice the success of the team as a whole), they may be able to get a reasonable return for him if they choose to move him. |

Agreed 100% Vinny is a pro, he must have been disappointed last season but he never directly said a word. |

If they win that series, they have at least a 50/50 shot at Pittsburgh, and they probably beat Montreal, too.
I mean, they'd get smoked in the SCF, and may have actually had a false sense of success. I don't think they're THAT far away in the East if they get more breaks in their favor than against, but the West is a different beast. |

Exactly.
If 50 games in, VL is healthy and has 20 goals and 35-40 points, someone may become very interested in him. |

Top center
Top Winger
Shut down C
Goalie
Franchise D/legit #1 pair D
They are missing a very big key piece.
Also the best teams go 12-13 forwards deep... guys they can use in a playoff series
flyers still a bit short on depth IMO.
I do like the direction they are going. I hope one of Morin/Ghost/Hagg/Sanheim realizes their potential, but still not sure any of them become the top dog they need on the D. We will see. - Marc D
I think the second scoring line is a huge question mark. I view Simmonds and Schenn as more high end role players who are opportunistic goal scorers rather then offense generators. Hopefully one of B. Schenn, Couturier, or Laughton, can become that 2nd line offensive generator. If not the Flyers will have to find one in the draft and they typically go high. |

vinny at LW won't be good, I'd like to see:
Umberger/VL/Jake
With Jake carrying the puck and setting him up, VL will get his goals. If that line could hold it's own defensively at even strength then it is a win. |

I don't think VL works at LW, if Laughton can earn a spot, I would try:
Schenn-G-VL (the helicopter line, no wings!)
Read-Couturier-Voracek
Umberger-Laughton-Simmonds
PEB-Raffl-Rinaldo or Akeson

If they could get another puck carrying winger (like Voracek) then BSchenn would be fine in the 2C role. I think he has a very underrated shot. He has some work to do at the dot and on his two way game, but you can see he has talent.

Not sure VL/Jake would work... both left-handed, Jake would be taking the one-timers, or he would have to move off the wall. |

so then play VL on the RW with G. Or back to the 4th line C which would be less then ideal IMO. |

Does it matter whose making it is?
The bottom line is, that they brought in ga player in an effort to make the team better. It hasn't worked out the way either the team for the player envisioned. The team brought in the guy that doesn't fit with what they're trying to do & the player hasn't played well it's a two-way street.
The key now is to avoid allowing it to become a distraction. That's on the player and the team, not just the team - Jsaquella
Yes Jsaq, it matters. Whether or not Lecavalier is "ineffective" at his position. They went out, recruited the player and once they didn't like what they saw in one season, they publicly tried to move him, which to me as a player would be a slap in the face and being spit on. There is no defense for this. The Flyers made their bed, now they have to sleep in it. |

I think Jake/VL would work well. Jake seems to like to cut to the middle when he enters the zone and VL likes to drift to the right and look for the one timer opportunity. Plus Jake takes the onus of puck carrying off of Vinnie too. |
