I wasn't ready for when the list of amenities ended and were abruptly replaced with visions of butt grabbing, lol.

I'm sure the concierge could arrange for that if that's what Mr. Giroux wanted. |

If he takes a one-year deal at 900K, I'd take a stab. If he stinks, send him to the AHL/ECHL and all it is is one contract slot. - jmatchett383
I can see him in the new Flyers themed Reading Royals jersey.....
There was a time when Carolina was po'd at Arturs Irbe they sent him to Johnstown
He used to do one on ones with former Johnstown Jets great Reg (Tzacuk) Kent
Talk about NHL players in the E, also Scott Gomez played for Alaska ( part owner ??) during the last lockouts

So, the player being a poor performer has nothing to do with the Flyers publicly trying to trade him? - Jsaquella
It's the same tunnel vision with you. Why was he a poor preformer this season? Simply because he plays one position and effective in one area of the ice? He's been this player his entire career. He's capable of bouncing back and he was hurt for most of the season.
I think the situation is much more complicated then fans choose to believe. Either he plays well and ups his value for a trade, if this is possible because his age, length of the deal and cap hit or things get worse because he knows the team doesn't want him anymore, he plays poorly again, fans turns on him and he sees limited time. If Lecavalier plays bad, this summer will be nothing compared to the next four years and this is on the Flyers for allowing this to get out. It's on the Flyers for bringing him here to begin with.
He's never been in this situation before. |

Wow, how things change in just a few years. I feel much better about our farm team this year; thanks Hexy.
I am eager to see how Alt would do at the NHL level. Any news about him moving up, and why wouldn't he be moved up for some more playing time?
Thanks for the articles Bill. Keep the good things coming. - OrangeAndBlack1

Nah, just a local boy. Crabb, Dubinsky, Nate Thompson were also on that team. |

I think the Scott Gomez thing was also a way to give back while on the lockout. Scott is from Alaska, I think. |

It is a deduction to reduce federal taxes, but not like something that affects the AGI in my humble turbo tax use world. Its not 1 for 1, so maybe in his bracket he gets 28% tax benefit.
Its mind boggling his Philly taxes are so much more than many on here earn in how many years ?

They've called him up twice, both times he looked like he belonged. Is he a world-beater? Probably not. But I personally haven't noticed a time when he was too slow/small to get the job done... he wasn't the worst defensive cog in that Rags series by a country mile (and he was up there w the best offensive performers). - Tomahawk
He's played a grant total of 9 NHL games. I'm not counting him out, but I'm not counting him in either. He's earned a shot in training camp. But he's going to have to produce offensively to stick in my opinion. |

Simmonds had 60 points last year didn't he? That sure makes him one hell of a role player! - MJL
More than 50% of his goals came on the powerplay. The only two players close to that on the team were Hartnell at 45% of his goals on the pp and Lecavalier at 40%. Simmonds was also 7th on the Flyers for even strength time on the ice and 2nd for powerplay time.
Only N. Backstrom averaged less even strength points per game than Simmonds in the top 70 scorers in the NHL. |

I don't feel like he even needs to put up points, as long as he continues to manage the puck well... which, as Feanor alluded to earlier, is something this team is sorely lacking outside of 2-3 other guys. |

If he were 6'1 190, instead of 5'10 190, I think there would be more believers. - Tomahawk
3 inches of height wouldn't make me more of a believer. If he can produce offensively at the NHL level consistently, then I'll be a believer. |

None of that makes him a role player. 28 goals is 28 goals. 60 points is 60 points. |

Unless he remakes his game and becomes a checking player, there is no question that he needs to put up points to have an NHL career and to stay in the lineup. He's an offensive player. Just not making mistakes isn't going to keep him in the lineup. He needs to produce. |

Wothout looking at the numbers, I'm pretty sure Ovechkin scored just about half his goals on the power play too.

In 9 career NHL games, he has 5 points. 7 of those games came against a very strong defensive team. |
