Let's be honest, he's a decent side show but we're wait for Jsaq and MJL to continue their stat discussion. It's the summer of discontent. - mayorofangrytown

I certainly agree about the mix issue. But saying they suck is innacurate in my opinion. If they get the proper support, the Flyers defense is a solid group. - MJL
Support from whom? The forwards? The forwards are mostly pinned in their own end trying to help the defense and by the time they finally "chip" it out. They are dead tired. Line change! |

How's the teeth - Jsaquella
The broken tooth train continues. It's always a good time because the bone has almost always fused to my teeth so it's not just an extraction it's a surgery and they can rarely get all of it. Follow up x-rays on Monday.

Thanks for this. One thing I'm not clear about is dump ins for line changes (1/3 to 1/2 of all changes?). That happens a lot, maybe the last guy on the ice does a half hearted forecheck sweep through the zone and heads to the bench. That's obviously going to bring down that "Shots against per entry w/out possession" stat and it really isn't a play expected to generate offense, it's really more a strategic defensive move.
I see these stats as potentially very useful but still a work in progress. Never liked the current PP/PK stats. Should be goals per 120 seconds, that's the real measure of your special teams. |

Okay, so far it's the defense sucks and the forwards are tired from helping out the sucky defense. Do I have that right? |

I was hoping for Hextall to make some changes to this team during off season, even if it was just picking up a proven NHL player who could help with speed and 3rd 4th line play.
I hate to say it but the Leafs did quite well in getting Santorelli, Winnik, and Booth all for contracts under 1.5. Any of those guys could have helped to possibly move a B Schenn or whoever else to work on a package for D help or a higher upgrade for first line wing.
Komarov was a high price but another nice addition.

Absolutely. If we can't win the Cup, maybe we can win the award for best cap situation. "Look, we're 24 M under the cap! We missed the playoffs but who cares, we're 24M under the Cap! |

They added PEB and Umberger and have Laughton to help with speed, penalty killing and 3rd/4th line play. BSchenn will likely get a shot at 1LW, and is cheap.
I'm not sure what kind of player & caphit you expect BSchenn+ to return. |

Back in the day when the toaster broke you made toast over the gas burner by putting a fork in it like you would a marshmallow at a camp fire. |

That's like, 9.5 Rinaldos, but I think it's 10 or 11 Rosehills. |
