Even Bucky Gleason seems to have done a 180 on how Pegula and his people treated "poor Patty" a couple of months ago. - buffalofan19
thx for the link...didn't realize that Pegula was after the bills all along...if what gleason's saying is accurate |

As long as they're in the same area, there is no problem |

You can own also another team in a market without an NFL team as well. The only factor that is going to determine who wins between Pegula and Bon Jovi/"Football Canada" is money, plain and simple. |

That being, when Pegula wants something he has the will and the financial wherewithal to go out and get it. - Michael Pachla
Like Ville Leino?
Stranger things have happened, but I can't possibly see how the Bills could come to Toronto. Playing in the GTA would require a new stadium, and the federal and provincial governments are adamant that they will not kick in a dime to get that done. You may sucker an outlying municipality to kick in a little dough or perhaps some municipal tax breaks, but that isn't going to get it done.
So you are left with seat licenses and paying out of your own tight black rocker jeans to pay for it.
Sorry, but you are livin' on a prayer if you think that it makes financial sense to shell out $1.3 billion for an NFL team, and then be on the hook for building a new stadium with your own cash.
See you at the Ralph, my wing-eating friends. |

you are correct, but I took his question as Terry already owns the Sabres and what the NFL has to say about that. |

The real obstacle to moving the Bills to Toronto is Buffalo's current lease. While Canadian governments have refused to kick in money to build a stadium, this Toronto group would have corporate backing (i.e. Rogers, and to some extent MLSE) that no NFL franchise has seen before. That could more than make up for the lack of government financing. Bon Jovi is there to be the face, nothing more. All the operations and funding outside the cash paid for the team itself is going to come from the two "non-human" entities in the group.

he really doesn't care about money...$1.3b doesn't even tap into his initial $3b net from east resources

Let’s play devil’s advocate
$1.3B to buy the Bills
$400M to break the lease
$1B for new stadium in TO
I also believe there is a relocation fee that JBJ group would have to pay the other 31 NFL owners. Someone correct me if I’m wrong
This all equals, NOT HAPPENING! Thank you Mr. Terry Pegula
Thank you Mr. Ralph Wilson for never selling us out to a high bidder in the past. They're here to stay people
Edit: I've never been so happy to finish 6-10 |

I'm not quite sure how I would feel if Pegula owned both the Bills and the Sabres. For many years there was this separation between ownership of both teams, Wilson on one end and the Knox brothers on the other. Both teams had their own identity from that standpoint. It would just seem kinda odd that one guy will own both. |

If, and it's a big if, the NFL wants a team in Toronto, it will figure out a way to lessen the burden (i.e. discount the relocation fee). They also could wait until the lease is over with. If the Toronto group does end up buying the team, the Bills will still be here for the next decade. It's after that which becomes unknown. - buffalofan19
I have the feeling that Pegula will not be outbid |

I do as well, but I also think that the Toronto Group structured itself the way it did for a reason, knowing that the landscape in Canada is different than in the United States.
I think Pegula will win this thing. I also think that the Toronto folks won't go down with out a fight, either. |

I believe the NFL will eventually be in Toronto, it just won't be the Bills. If this does happen the Toronto franchise will have to pay Terry money to come into his neighborhood. We’re not talking chump change either. There is some of his money back right there, not that he needs it. |

Pretty great news, I hope he uses his private funds to invest in the new stadium as well (preferably downtown).
I would model it after Seattle's great design. Get the skyline in the background. |

He is after the Bills because the NFL is a money making machine. Each team gets around $130MM on TV deals alone.
Add in revenue sharing and sponsorships and you are rolling in the big bucks! |
