Isn't that the truth. Someone tallied up the Sabres NHL coaching experience on another site. 6.5 years minus Nolans half a year last year for some reason.
You don't even have to state an opinion you can state a fact and then let the good times roll. |

It doesn't matter, really.
If Nolan fails, they'll all be gone in 2 years. |

A tad bit worried that Trump has made it on to the next round of bidding, no word yet on Pegula. Maybe Pegula, like usual, is just not saying much, and Trump is telling the world. |

That's a strength of Pegula, imo.
Let everybody else run their mouths and dig their own graves while he sits in the weeds waiting to strike. He sure stayed off the radar while buying the Sabres. |

Great scoop from @john_wawrow on next stage of Bills sales process. I can confirm Pegula also has been informed http://www.pro32.ap.org/article/ap-sourc |

I guess it's unclear whether Bon Jovi's group will bid again. If it's Trump vs Pegula.... Pegula wins easily. |

To be fair, the only one running his mouth right now at all is Trump. Bon Jovi hasn't been heard from since this thing started, and neither have the other parties of the Canadian group. The only reason it seems that way is that Toronto has a massive media contingent that Buffalo doesn't. |

Howard Bloom
...While the NFL also likes their owners to own only NFL teams, there are some important exceptions that apply to both the Pegula and Rogers bid.
The Toronto Blues Jays are owned by Rogers Communications Inc. Rogers, the deputy chairman of the company, is not the owner of Rogers Communications, but is a shareholder. He can become the owner of an NFL franchise. Pegula owns the Buffalo Sabres. However, his bid is being made with his wife. Under NFL rules, one Pegula can own the Bills while the other owns the Sabres, as is the case with Stan Kroenke who turned over his ownership of the St. Louis Blues to his son when he purchased the St. Louis Rams in 2010.
So, if successful, Kim would own the Bills.

I would think, if it goes that far, Terry would turn the Sabres over to Kim...and, if the rumors are true, that would make LaFontaine squirm a bit.
Also, we all think that the idea is to stick it to Jon Bon Jovi, but should that group win the bid, it will be the Rogers/MLSE people running the show. Bon Jovi is merely an investor, despite the fact that his name and face are on things. |

I would rather have Bon jovi run the team than MLSE. I'm 90% kidding but that other 10% should is not un warranted and should scare people |

@AdamBenigni 5m Three sources confirm that July 29 #Bills bid deadline has been extended to allow other bidders to enter - told for undefined period @wgrz
Sounds to me like the trust agreement or will calls for the sale to have x-amount of bidders. |

Oh poop, which means it could also have a reserve that was not met.
However I'm not too worried either. 15 groups received the books on the Bills, only 3 initially bid. What that tells me is that anybody who thought of this as a business investment was scared off. The only ones left are people who just really want to be NFL owners. |

I'm completely guessing on my hypothesis, but I have worked with Trusts before (nothing worth this kind of money though), and the agreements can have some interesting and bizarre stipulations. |

Jeffrey Littman, Wilson's money man for the last 20 years or so, among others had to know that lease and it's stipulations were going to limit the number of bids on the team when Wilson died. The State and County did really well negotiating that lease and Wilson knowing he was on his last legs and wanting to be kind to the people of Buffalo and his legacy helped with that lease as well. |

Agree.
As much as people were calling Wilson "cheap" all those years, he did this area a solid.
Now, Morgan Stanley is handling this sale, but does anyone know if the Wilson's have a say in the choosing of the next owner. Say the Toronto group restructures itself and they offer more money (with the ultimate intention of moving the team), could the Wilson's say, "you know what, we can't do that to WNY, so we'd prefer the Pegula's to own it, even though their bid was a bit less?"
edit: this may be a stupid question. |

I'm sure Morgan Stanley is in constant communication with Mary Wilson/whoever else has any say in this Trust. They're brokering the sale. They don't have the final say. |

In addition the NFL owners might like Pegula better as well. Local guy, obviously invests big time in sports, obvious what his intentions with the franchise are. The Toronto group is less about who they are and more about Toronto as a market and direction the NFL wants to go. Trump is Trump. |
