Yup, and Lecavalier was winning the Rocket Richard trophy... The good old days - forbetterorWORSE
Yeah, crazy how short a top scorers window can be...like Marcus Naslund? Elite scorer for what? 2 years? |

Turris is great, probably one of the best trades in franchise history, except for that time we fleeced the (frank) out of the NY Islanders and unloaded Yashin. His best years are ahead of him. I would have no problem putting the C on him. EK 65 really does not like the media so I would shy away from putting the C on him. If Murray thinks we can make the playoffs someone will get the C if he has doubts I see him rolling three A's. Maybe Mika has a strong camp and he gets the C. Theres lots of options. Can't wait till hockey starts again so we can all stop running our gates on here |

8th among centers in goal differential. - spatso
That's the only criteria? I'll start with him being tied for 32nd in PPG among centres, and being 39th in actual time-on-ice as evidence that he's nowhere close to that kind of rank. I'm a big fan of Turris', but I'd like to see him play at least one full season as the team's #1 centre before I go making anything close to that kind of statement about him.

I thought he clearly established himself as the team's #1 center last year.
If, for example, you look at Sports Club Stats on playoff probability you will note that goal differential (GD) is one of their primary criteria. It is fashionable to knock plus/minus. And, clearly, it sometimes can be a wierd number based on line combinations or where you are slotted in the depth chart. But even strength goal differential is a very good number for comparing centers. A center has as much defensive responsibility as offensive. In fact, there are some very gifted offensive centers who never master the defensive side of the game (Ribero and I fear Kadri is headed down the same road).
But, you need to win (as a team) in order to gain personal recognition. Winning is everything. If the Senators make the playoffs this year as I believe they will. And, if Turris plays as well as he did last year, Turris will move way up on a lot of people's list of top centers.

Of course....so few of them....that's why I find it hard to knock Jumbo....playoff success as a team aside...this guy has been as consistent as anyone for his entire career. |

Murray was on a tear there for a while - The Anderson trade, Turris, moving up to get EK - just a Norris trophy star, a #1 Center and a 1A goalie. |

Where would Turris rank in top centers of the league? - ClarksonDavid
Turris is not a first line center and the Sens are going to finish dead last, you heard it here first. |

I think the Sens will make the playoffs. But, if your going to be a lottery team this is a great year to miss.

From HockeyyInsiderr this morning. Still think Kane is fist on Murray's list of preferred acquisitions. You know that Lazar (or Lehner or both) would have to be part of the package.
"The Jets are actively shopping Evander Kane. For some time the Canucks were the main contenders to land hometown Kane in Vancouver, but talks seem to have broken off as the Jets were asking for Horvat in return. Other teams are interested including the Sens, Leafs, Habs and Ducks. However the return for Kane is not exactly what the Jets are looking for. This could be due to Kane’s alleged attitude problems." |

Oh how I hope you are right.. Connor McDavid for the next 10+ years
Also if I could borrow our magic crystal ball just for the week that would be great. I've been trying to hit this darn lottery lately with the wrong numbers |

Really. I thought his stuff over the last while was really good and very accurate. He does seem to have a Montreal connection that is pretty accurate.

he just regurgitates other peoples tweets....his 'breaking news' always occurs about 10 minutes after it's been tweeted by dreger or mackenzie. he's a complete hack |

The only player I'd take over Kyle Turris on Phillys roster is Giroux, obviously. & I'd rather have Karlsson than him.
Simmonds is close, but I believe Turris has higher potential than him as well. |

In terms of hard news I think that is essentially true of everyone. MacKenzie and Dreger get the breaking news out pretty fast. But this guy seems okay on the speculative stuff. A month ago he was saying Montreal was going hard after Kane. He has also said that Vancouver was the big hitter offering a large package. He has had Ottawa hanging back in the weeds. Murray always does his best by hanging around for the long haul (Turris, Ryan). |

his speculative stuff is right about 0.3% of the time.......which might even be a little generous |

Well I guess the only explanation is I like the rumor, specifically that Murray remains in the hunt for Kane.

Is it to far fetched to think Karlsson could hit 25G 65A this season as he's coming into his prime at age 24. I believe he's finally 100% healed from his achilles injury. Imagine what he could do with a legit #2 by his side. Im not sure Cowen or Methot will get him to where he could potentially go. The focus of this team should be to acquire a #2 left handed shot d-man for him. Before ANYTHING else. |

What do you think is fair value for Kane? Seguin, Hamilton and a 2nd? We're looking for a player who can help the franchise collapse whenever the fan base gets it's hopes up, so if not Kane, can you suggest someone?
