the fanbase would have stormed 1 bills drive had they not taken a qb...remember all the hate thrown at fitz?...it was relentless - Michael Pachla
Eff what the fan base wants right? Do what's best for the team. Like the Sabres just did. |

I think the success of later round picks like kaepernick, wilson and foles have filled people with the idea that players like that are easier to come by. Those 3 ended up in better situations than the bills were in at the time. And much like the sabres the bills havent bottomed out to where we can draft one of those potentially elite qbs. |

Good point. I would definitely have to say that the way they lost was the main problem. There was still some talent playing for Rolston, but ZERO effort. Based on Nolans history and small sample size so far, I expect better effort. We all know what he's here to do. He either has to get a bunch of slobs to try as hard as they can or at least act like it. People can dump all over nolan for not being an X's and O's guy, but when we had X's and O's guys (Ruff, Rolston) the team just quit on them. I think it's a balance. Nolan is smart enough to look a player in the eye and tell them they didn't compete hard enough. I think with Ruff and Rolston, hearing "you covered the late O instead of the O down low" just got stale. |

That's fine, and Brady can say - or think - anything he wants. Does the team share his enthusiasm for playing that long? He is declining. And, at 37, for him to say he wants to - or think he can - play "into his 40s", would have him playing at least another 3-5 years, whereby his stats and, more importantly, physical ability would continue to decline.
That's neither here nor there, though. I'm no football scout. That's his and the team's decision.
I guess my point was, if Mallett was the heir apparent, NE would find a way to keep him. As we all know here in Buffalo, good quarterbacks are hard to find. - grand-magus
One jackass writes that Brady isn't elite anymore and the mob simply follows along?
I for one, as a Pats fan that HATED BRADY for years after he took Bleadsoe's job, think he is easily one if the top three QBs in the league STILL.
If we didn't have him last year we wouldn't have had a winning record.
He led the NFL in game winning drives, and could any NFL fan name one if his receivers other than Gronk, who was hurt most of the year?
Hope he plays until he decides to run for President.
That was a joke so relax. |

It will be great to see if Nassib's career outshines EJ's career. What will that say about Marrone if it actually happens? - RynoBull
Same for Geno Smith. He was arguably the best QB in the draft last year and not only did the Bills pass him up, he went to a division rival. |

Neither of them should be your starting quarterback if you're serious about winning a championship any time in the near future. - buffalofan19
Who said Buffalo is going for a championship ? 2 more years maybe . The kid has to be developed . He is a project . Biggest mistake is not having a veteran backup to help mentor him.

If you don't have a quarterback that you feel is or will be capable of bringing your team a championship within at most five years, you are a poorly run organization. Obviously, the Bills feel they can with EJ Manuel can do this, but I strongly feel they are incorrect, with or without the mythical veteran backup mentor. |

And there you have it. I've been saying this from day one : The Bills took a project QB with their first round selection. Who does that ? That's insane. |

Most quarterback's are projects . Unless they are the rare ones that go with the first or second pick . He should have never started as a rookie . But Kolb got hurt. The game moves a lot faster than it did in College.. Manual was picked at #16 . Not or two.
