BTW: Morin also had a turn over at the blue line that lead to a 2-1 (Sanheim back) that lead to the last goal of the CZE. Sanheim had 2-1 against and both ended in goals in the game, missed a D coverage that lead to a breakaway in the first (no goal) and was victim to being on the PK when a player got the puck in the slot and fired it into the net (he could have stepped up faster to block or defelct the puck but hard to really fault him). That all said, he played better then Morin and had some great reads mostly on the O side of the puck. He looks like a real player. One of Canadas best for sure in the few games they have played in this tourney.

At 6 million this season, I doubt they get their money's worth no matter where they put him!


However, I would be willing to try:

Read-Couturier-Voracek
Umberger-Schenn-Simmonds

This would give them a lot of balance and cause some matchup headaches for other teams. I really would like to see Couturier with Read and Jake, that has the potiential to be a really good 2 way line.

No, he took a penalty that was not needed by coming into a scrum and just throwing punches which ended up being a significant moment to change the game. It's like Rinaldo or any player that plays with am edge. You don't want to go over the line He was far from the reason they lost but he was guilty on that one.

Very nice piece on the trending bigger goalies. As a fellow tall guy myself, it reminds of when I first got interested in hockey and was giving all the positions a try. I gave goalie a chance and did OK i suppose, but all you had to do against me was shoot low. I had the hardest time trying to drop low to stop those shots.

Now that I am full grown somewhere between 6'4 and 6'5 my son does the same thing when we are out in the driveway playing. I have to say I am rather impressed at how agile and mobile these big guys have become. It's tough enough sometimes with those goalies just because of the space they eat up in net, but to add on top of that their quickness it makes them twice as lethal.

I think at the end of the day it is all about whether or not you can play the position. I can't see a scout who has 2 goalies, one of which is maybe 5'11 who is really good and the other 6'3 but is just good and opting for the taller one just because of his height.

I would take a lot of those shorter goalies Bill mentioned in his article over say a 6'6 Anders Lindback.
