Schmidt was a GREAT hitter. His OB% was outstanding. He walked a ton, consistently hit for power and drove in runs by the bushel. Comparing him to Dave Kingman is so ridiculous that it really shouldn't merit a response. - MBFlyerfan

Hey if anyone wants a good laugh check out James Tanner's blog about how the Coyotes are a playoff team
In one of his comments he literally called Arizona better than Colorado, San Jose, Dallas and Minnesota despite the fact all those teams improved and Arizona did not. |

Tony Gwynn struck out a total of 434 times in 20 years. that averages 21.7 Ks per year.
THAT is CRAZY - Hesh_
More incredible is Stan Musial. He averaged 25 homers per 162 games, while averaging 37 strikeouts per 162 games.
In 1948, he had 39 homers, and struck out 34 times. More incredible is Joe DiMaggio, averaged 34 homers & 34 strikeouts per 162 games and |

Not to mention a second year of Nichushkin, who has a lot of speed, size, and skill and could break out in a big way. |

Does anyone know what the prospects are looking like who got shipped to Boston in the Seguin deal? |

Blueline still a bit suspect - hopefully some of the young guys on system emerge at NHL level,,but not ready to carry the load. The rest is there on paper.

A Healthy Hertl and losing Boyle I consider better. Regardless this is the same team that tied for 3rd in the west. |

Joe Morrow looks like a solid defenseman.
Matt Fraser I don't really know how he looks
Reily Smith looks like a stud, did very well for the Bruins |

Thornton has always been a strong regular season performer and even if he does Sharks have Pavelski, Couture and Marleau to pick up the slack. If I were the sharks I'd deal him to replenish the farm system and grab a winger. I'd like to see a Couture and Pavelski duo at center. |

I'm surprised he didn't pull up at the last second, and snipe a puck into the top-corner of your windshield:

Fraser's a pretty decent goal-scorer, 3rd-line winger type... he could crack their lineup this season.
Morrow's a two-way dman in progress... he's probably 1-2 seasons away from making an impact, and they can afford to give him that time.
Smith, you know is pretty decent. |

their defense was very suspect at points last year not sure if it's on niemi to communicate with them or not but there were too many brain dead blown coverages without a vet like boyle they might be in worse shape |
