Yes.. I guess that means the Flyers will not be getting Bogo

I tend to think he has a decent take on this team's doings.

How exactly are we going to gain cap space in a Bogo trade?

Trade Brayden Schenn & MacDonald? It seems Eklund is saying they're going to clear space to make a Bogosian trade.

In my opinion Bogosian isn't worth these two players in a trade. Yes I'm considering the fact that the deal would also be about looking for cap relief. I like Bogosian's potential but to me he's the worst player in the deal and unless he finds his game, the deal makes us weaker.

I've seen a lot if Hexy talking B. Schenn, but nothing on Coots. Anyone seen anything on that?

The injuries are a question mark for Bogosian, especially with his style of play.

If however they can rid themselves of one of the poor contracts (Streit/Umberger/MacDonald/LeCavalier) I'd be in.

Or EK trying to stir up poop on a quiet summer Hockeybuzz.

I wouldn't put too much into his potential, but that's just me. He isn't exactly a super young pup in his first NHL season.

I think he is a pretty solid #3 d-man, on a cup winning team.

The only trades that make sense are Coburn or Grossman and maybe a forward like Read or ya know Vinny...

Disagree that he's the worst player in the deal, and the suggestion wasn't trading those two for him. It was more trading them for cap room to add bogosian

I have concerns about his durability. He hasn't developed well, but then again, how many young guys have developed into good players with the Jets/Thrashers franchise?

Bogosian is still young enough to find his way, and if he does, he'll be the best-or at least most coveted, as a legit top pair defenseman with good size-player of the three.

It's a risk, of course, because he has not stayed healthy and hasn't show enough consistency in his game to make reaching his potential a sure thing. There's also his contract to consider. He's got six years left on a back loaded contract that carries a $5.142mm hit. If he continues to play in less than 60 games per year, that's a hard deal to justify.

But, in terms of skill and potential, he's exactly the type of young defenseman I'd look for in a trade.

Also, if you have kids under 10 and they beg for an alarm clock, do NOT buy them one.

Because when they set it for 1 am, you're going to be the poor bastard that hears it and wakes up and can't get back to sleep

We've been here before and I admitted I don't know much about him, but he strikes me as Luke Schenn redux. Thus the earlier JvR comment. What am I missing?

He's still got some #1 potential. Schenn never had that to begin with.

He's a better skater than Luke, more offensive potential. For a bigger guy he's capable of skating well with the puck, but lacks consistency in providing that offense. He was seen as being in the same stratosphere as Pietrangelo and Doughty, and while he likely won't reach that level, he could still be a legitimate first pair, all situations guy.

I'm more concerned about his injury history. 70 games missed in the last 4 seasons, and he definitely needs to find his game soon.

Thanks. Doesn't sound like the right guy to me, but who knows - would have to see what was going other way

Yeah, he was neck-and-neck w/ Doughty, and ahead of Petro on draft day.

With a bit of injury luck, I think he could comfortably hit a Coburn-level of excellence... with upside to go further than that.

The guy is a really gifted skater and is blessed with just about every other tool in the book. If he could stay healthy for a good season or two, I think he could easily piece his career back together.
