I think you should stop talking about the Wings because every time you show you know nothing. Their prospects system ranks in the top 10 in pretty much every site I have seen for the NHL. - dcz28
It's fairly deep, but the top level guys are really just Sproul, Jurco, Mantha.
Ouellet, Marchanko, and that other defenseman look ok, but not anty better than what you have in your bottom pair already.
You need that high end centerman for the future if you're going to keep being considered a top team. |

I would add Mrazek and Pulkkinen to the top guys.
Lashoff (who was on the bottom pair all of last season) doesn't do anything well. No offense to his game, not a good puck mover, not physical for his size, not very good defensively either. He belongs in the AHL or Europe...heck his brother is a better defenseman and he's now playing in Europe because nobody wanted him in the NHL. The prospects can easily replace him and they all have more upside to their games. Quincey is horrible most of the time and the only partner that can help him look half decent is DeKeyser. He makes every other partner look horrible because he makes bad pinches at the blue line a lot and runs around chasing players to the other side of the ice leaving his side wide open. He's not very good on the PK and bring little to no offense always shooting bad shots on net for easy saves. Both these guys are not going to get any better. Prospects might make some of the same mistakes early on but at least they have some things they are good at and they can improve while these guys won't. Kindl has no room for mistakes with Babcock. Others can make 10 mistakes per game but 2 or 3 for him and he gets scratched even when he isn't the worst defenseman on the ice. He's in a similar position to Wiercoch for the Sens...other can screw up as much as they can but still keep a spot while they have no room for mistakes or they are in the coaches doghouse and scratched.
Wings did draft 5 centers in the last draft and signed Nosek. So they have added depth to the center position which was their weakest area for their farm system especially since they traded Jarnkrok in that stupid trade for Legwand. Will any of those guys end up as top 6 centers who knows since sure fire top 6 centers are easier to get in the top 10 or top 5 of the draft and the Wings don't draft that high. Larkin is the highest pick they have had since the early 90's. |

Last year same date, All "experts" had the Habs finishing 9th-12th. Now that they made it to semi-final last year, with very close to the same roster, they are top 4...

1-Boston. It's the Bruins.
2-Tampa. Massive improvements on D. No St. Louis? No problem!
3-Montreal. Kind of a horizontal move, but looks good for the future.
4-Toronto. This pick will be wrong, I'm sure of that.
5-Detroit. Age is catching up with them and the young'uns aren't there yet.
6-Buffalo. Made some respectible moves, Nolan is awesome.
7-Ottawa. Sorry guys, that team on paper doesn't look to poop-hot. Yet.
As for this "up-and-down" season crap with Tampa. Nah. That's totally false. Tampa has had back-to-back awful seasons not that long ago, and 4 playoff (and a cup) appearances before that.
It's a different team culture. The old guard has officially been expunged. Stamkos, Palat, Johnson, Drouin, Bishop, Hedman et al will be more than a match, not to mention the Bolts' crazy depth at forward.

I'm going to throw in a cliché; the game isn't played on paper. The Senators have as much of a chance to finish 1st in the Atlantic as the Bruins. And that's not saying much. I don't know how most of you are automatically slotting the Bruins at #1. Their stabilized forwards have reached the peak of their potential and some will definitely regress. I wouldn't be surprised by the least if they missed the Playoffs. |

That's just not true.
And you're contradicting yourself by saying that a team "on paper" doesn't matter until they play the games, well, by your logic, that Bruins team "on paper" is the same as last year and hasn't had a chance to show any regression.
In summation, you're being inconsistent. |
