It's not hard, try this.
Guy who is good, hasn't won anything
Guy who is good, has proved it and won big trophies.
Now do you see it? It's harder to see when you really, really like your home team and your guy is the good guy who hasn't won anything, but it's still a standard. As good does not equal as good with trophies.

Didn't they make Ryan Miller they highest rated goalie in the league last year? The rankings are god awful year in and out. Giroux was a finalist for the Hart and he is ranked #24???
Pekka Rinne played 24 games last year with a 2.77 GAA and they have ranked as the 4th best goalie in the game. |

Would you like to show where the "cups won" stat is or the "awards won" stat is because I forgot what Smith or Varlamov have won. It's "supposed" to be based off of statistical analysis on how good a player is not "is he good in the playoffs?". With you're logic Crawford should be the second best rated goalie in the league |

Well it's not based solely on the previous season. It takes into account statistics from the past 2 or 3 years along with pedigree and reputation as well. |

Smith and varly have taken their team to the playoffs, so there's that...
Take it back to the basics, try to rinse off the homerism, and you might agree on my point that crawford has proven something, schenider has not. |

And schnieder has been consistently up there with everyone else, albeit with a slightly smaller sample size. And I get what you're saying, but to say that he shouldn't rated higher because he hasn't "won" anything is just asinine |

And Scneider has brought the Canucks to the playoffs. Suddenly he goes to another team and that disappears? |

Thanks, Todd, for giving us something to pass the time of the offseason.
I don't agree with all my fellow NJ Devils fans all the time, but I think we all can agree that we appreciate you making this offseason tolerable.

You really love the devils, I respect that.
Scheider did not "bring the canucks" to the playoffs. He was not their starting goalie. He was the backup. BACKUP. He played well, but he has never ever ever had a full season to prove himself.
The other guys you mentioned proved something beyond numbers. CS has not. |

This lol, and the Cory is because he's French, I'd assume? No idea though.
As for his "snubbing," it should come as no surprise, as you could put almost any goalie in the league in Chicago's crease, and they'd still be contenders every year. Schneider does not add the value Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, Hossa, etc. Not even close really. He looked terribly pedestrian when faced against good competition in the first round against the Blues, and he has never really had a propensity to steal games for the Hawks, ever. He's a good goalie, not elite. Not even close to elite.
Let me put it this way.... Put Tuuka Rask on the worst team in the league and I know for almost fact Rask helps get that crap team into the playoffs more than putting Crawford in the exact same situation. It's that simple.
Crawford is the beneficiary of playing on a great Chicago team, and his numbers are slightly bloated as a result. - Flyers_V88

Um, it can be spelled with the 'E' or without it and that's how you spell his name according to NHL.com. As for the 45 games, this past year Rask played 58 games, the most in his career. 36, 23, 29, 45 are the four years before last year that Rask played.
Rask has played one more year that Cory. Cory's last four years, 45, 30, 33, 25. |

Those are all starters. Not saying Schneider isn't going to be a good starter, but you know, he hasn't been tested for 60+ games a year yet. We could easily see his % drop about .07 pts |
