honestly - looking at that list the BIG trades are fine for the most part. even most of the little ones are solid - i.e powe for a 3rd. there are some bad ones (jvr, eminger, etc)
His recovery from 'mistakes' is pretty good as I review the link you posted.
For Example -
Gave up a 1st and 3rd for Versteeg, then traded him and drafted Ghost with the pick in return. (now look what the blackhawks gave up for versteeg and its baffling - J Hayes and Olson)
Picked up Leino for a 5th (served us well) then let him go FA where he bombed.
Gave up Bob for a 2nd and two 4ths where he drafted Stolarz and Leier. Then reacquired a Goalie by sending Leighton and a 3rd to CLB for Mason.
Reacquired Boucher, added Alt and gave away Pither. Basically a freebee to get Alt.
Acquired Mez for a 2nd, traded him for a 3rd.
He's not perfect but i think he was FAR from a bad GM - moylander
He's a B- if its clear after next year he found us a goalie

yeah - I can agree to that.
Losing pronger was the only 'mistake' that he never really recovered from... but its not for lack of trying (weber, suter, etc). I think this is a BIG reason for many of the reactive trades made (i.e. JVR for schenn)
interestingly enough.... just for fun imagine what nashville could have done with our 4 1st rounders had they not accepted the OS? They would have had 8 1st rounders over a 4 year period (They picked Seth Jones and Kevin Fiala already - We picked Morin and Sanheim). Instead they missed the playoffs the last two seasons and paid out some nearly $40 million in salary+bonus.

Flyers likely would have had lower picks had they gotten Shane Webber

sometimes the best deals are the ones that don't get made
And what is that based on? Hextall was the assistant GM when MacDonald was acquired. This is the problem I have with a lot of statements made. Why would Holmgren go out and get MacDonald if he is just a modest improvement? It seems like the book is already written by some on MacDonald as a Flyer. What's that's based on, I have no idea. But stating what Hextall would've or wouldn't have done is pure speculation with no basis for making it.
There is no track record of Hextall as a GM. But yet just on this page we've had statements of what Hextall does in trades, when he's made on major trade and one minor trade in his career as GM. And now statements on what he might have done. - MJL
I'm simply giving my impression of Hextall, as are others, and I honestly couldn't possibly care less about your opinions or the problems you have with statements made by other posters.

true -
that said - sanheim and morin were considered a stretch when they were picked and there are plenty of great prospects in the last two drafts that were drafted later in the 1st round. In years past 2 late round picks that panned out for us - Mike Richards (24th) and Glaude Giroux (22nd)... others like Laughton (20th) look good.

In hindsight, it may have helped the franchise. I think it would have been difficult to sell fans on a team that lost TWO franchise defenseman in their mid 20s. I felt there was more to it than just "whats best for the team."
Things may have been different had they known they'd get Seth Jones.
Good Morning Vietnam you know he improvised a lot of the stuff in the movie - 2Real
I'm looking at his IMDB page and I can't pick a favorite role. Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets, Mrs Doubtfire, one Hour Photo, Awakenings...even smaller roles, like the crazy butcher from Dead Again...he was just incredible
