I am thinking that Flyers are one more bad contract away from bing a complete basket case. I think Bogosion is a good player that has not yet lived up to expectations because of injuries.
But, what if he is another Luke Schenn? Bogosion has a nice contract if he lives up to the original promise, but... |

11G in one PO run... I dunno:
- Tomahawk
Wow, that's like 2008 Umberger-type numbers, or 1990 John Druce, or 2013 Bryan Bickell, or 2008 Johna Franzen.
Clearly, all franchise game changing types. |

I was dominant. I was ruled ineligible during Hitz tournaments with my friends - PhillySportsGuy
Me and my friends would play on the same team. One guy hits everyone, like a (frank)in blocker, other guy shoots if there's 2 people. 3 people playing we just went with it
Nicknames on the made up team were always 101011, X24K20 or what ever that one was, .....and....rrahhhh....
The announcer would say it like that. Hilarious. He'd yell all the nicknames then save Ra for last because he was the goalie and say it in a low droning monotone voice |

Holy poop! I just looked at his contract. I figured it was like $3.5M-$4M. But it's $5.1M? Do...not...want. |

And I'd be fine with buying low on a guy with Bogosian's pedigree.
I'm not giving up something of significance to get him. |

I don't know why anyone would be against getting a guy like Bogossian. He is only 24 and the contract is reasonable for a dman of his caliber. yes he has struggled some in Winnipeg/Atlanta but maybe the change would be good. His potential to become a a true number one defender I think is worth the risk. I would even try to get the rights to Burmistrov in the deal.
Maybe something like Schenn/Schenn/2nd Rounder for Bogossian and Burmistrov.
I don't know but I think it is worth it. If you can keep Coburn and add someone like Bogossian you have a solid group to start building on once guys like Ghostisbeher, Hagg and Morin are ready. Yes losing B. SChenn would be tough but I think replacing forwards is easier. |

Simple, they trade him for a 30 goal scoring, power forward! |

The problem is he's signed for 5 more years at over $5M per year. Yes, IF he stays healthy and IF he turns into what his projection was, he's a big upgrade. However, IF he does not, he's just another bad, overpriced contract. So I'd say that right now, his contract is not reasonable for a dman of his caliber, it's more for the hoping what kind of dman he will become...which he may or may not ever become.
The fact that we'd have to give up value and hope that he stays healthy and becomes a #1 defenseman (which he has yet to show signs of) makes me very gun shy. |

If the Flyers feel that makes them a better team both now and in the future, then yes. I think I misunderstood the question. I read it as "Should the Flyers package high pick/top prospects to dump veterans for nothing?" not for players they actually want. |

Agreed. I'm not moving high draft picks and/or quality prospects just to get salary relief. |

I'm not sure why I have to give up so much to get Bogosian, considering his contract term and his injury history.
The Flyers can be "Schenn free" in two years if they want to go that route and use that money towards something else.
This feels as much like the Jets wanting to dump a contract as it does the Flyers wanting Bogosian. |

Good post. It's just not worth the risk. It's highly likely he is a 2nd pairing guy. Don't we have one or two of those signed out for 3-5 more years. Don't we have a couple of those coming up in the pipeline? He's not a piece I'm looking for if I'm hexy |

Contracts that the Flyers have signed players to, are ridiculously overblown by a lot of fans as bad contracts. |

Out of morbid curiosity, can you name any contracts that the Flyers currently have that you would call bad contracts? |

I think BoGo is pretty much Braydon Coburn. He has the potential to be much more than Coburn, but that's also what we thought when we got Coburn (if you guys follow what I'm saying). |
