You're nutty. That kid's not overhyped at all. He had a very solid WHL rookie season and tore his ACL his sophomore year. His bounceback year is the "1 good year" you're referring too.
There's a reason why he wasn't in the AHL this year. He's that good. Most definitely a stud. I'd trade everybody on this team with the exception of G, Jake, and Cooter for him and in another year or two, that list might only include G. - mochoson
Wow. Granted, I only watched him play in the WJC and maybe 10 other games, but he seemed like Jake Gardiner lite in the NHL, and was a complete bust at the WJC as one of their "go-to" guys. |

But he only scored 2-goals as a rookie defenseman! Take him off the hook and throw him back. |

Hey, like I said, I think he's very overhyped. Just my opinion based on watching him 15-20 times over the past calendar year. But yeah, young, high draft pick, must be the next Erik Karlsson. Trade them all for him! |

You're talking last years tournament, yes? Didn't that entire Canadian team play awful? They didn't even medal if I am remembering correctly (and I could be wrong).
Either way, I'm not judging a player on one tournament. Definitely catch more NHL games of him. He's already a superior player to Gardiner, especially defensively.
Absolutely amazing skater. |

The "over-hyped" thing, for one, really isn't un-warranted. However, I could see why some feel he's overhyped, and that is entirely due to the fact that he plays in Toronto. |

Yeah, the Canadians just completely fizzled, but they had 3 (4, if you count Reinhart) defensemen who were noticeably better than him. He seemed absolutely lost and unsure out there from day 1 on. As for the NHL, sure he can skate, but that only gets you so far. He hasn't really shown me anything to put him into that stratosphere of the Maata/Trouba/Jones guys of the league.
And no, I'm not saying he's bad because he's not Maata or Trouba, just that, when we're talking about young guys who can be stars, they're on such a different level right now. |

Shayne Gostisbehere is likely the next Tobias Enstrom. Sergei Gonchar, but more 'Merica, would be nice. |

Out of morbid curiosity, can you name any contracts that the Flyers currently have that you would call bad contracts? - jmatchett383
Right now, the only contract that I'm worried about is Lecavalier's contract because of his back issue. If he doesn't have a bounce back year, that's a bad contract. I wasn't crazy about Timonen's contract, but it appears that may not be an issue now. I don't view any other contract as a bad contract. You could look at a deal or two and say maybe there is a slight overpayment, but when looking at all things, I don't have a real issue with any others. And really a contract becomes a bad contract most often when the player doesn't play well. |

Okay. So, aside from Lecavalier and Timonen, you believe that every player on the Flyers is getting paid appropriate money/term for their abilities? Just so we're straight? |

Yeah I'm just gonna have to disagree. I thought by the end of this season Reilly was on those guy's levels easy, save Jones. He's above all of them entirely. |

I'm of the oppinion that we wait. We do have some young D coming up in a few years... kind of a lot of them. Our once hallowed pipeline of front end offensive talent has kind of dried up to Laughton and Leir. Moving Schenn(Brayden) makes no sense as we don't have someone to replace him anytime soon.
The only currency we have to pay Winnipeg is in our newly found young Defensive depth which isn't nhl ready yet. Trading one or two of Hagg, Ghost, Alt, Morin, Sanheim, etc. is probably our best commodity to move right now. In return we get a player that is more prepared and further along but in the same position, which is what we need now.
Except for Umberger or Vinnie, I would not move any of our starting forwards (or Laughton) and I would not move Coburn from our D. If the cost of Bogo is more than that I'd say wait. |
