It's funny... I know this team is going to be sub-par. I know they are gonna lose a lot this year... But I really cannot wait to watch the growth and development of some of these young guys. Interested in seeing who stays up/ who goes down. Goalie? Who are the line pairings?
This is ground zero year for me. It all begins this year - edwinsagain
This. Plus, I'm expecting to make quite a few trips up to Roch this year to watch them grow too. It's going to be a fun year regardless of the suffering |

I think the jury is out on the good coaching still. At least according to many of the previous threads on here. - The Don
I mat be a bit biased, I really Like Nolan. I think he's the best person or the job right 'now"... Maybe not the guy for 5-7 years down the road but I think he will get te guys playing fo him and will do well with the young core of the team. |

When the team out grows Ted . Terry will step up with a golden parachute for Ted . But he is the right man for the job right now for sure.

I believe he is a young mans coach and I believe he will teach them how to be professionals, as he did in Jr's. He's a smart man and a motivational guy, I've personally met him many times and have watched him speak at conferences where he was the Keynote.
Agree that he will be "outgrown" when the team he develops turns more mature and need a different approach, I think this will always be Ted's coaching "niche" |

Which is fine by me. Its not my money and will not affect the bottom line or fan experience. |

Agreed on both, 2011 class should get some love as well. They didn't have nearly as many picks but looking back on it they made some pretty good calls.
Armia looks like he could be better than anyone they could have taken at that point in the 1st.
Catenacci in the 3rd round could wind up being the sleeper pick as well.
And maybe even Lieuwen (long shot I know but I could see him having a solid nhl career.) |

I'm pretty curious to see where Compher, Fasching, Baptiste and company end up in the long run. I think these guys (and I may have missed few) all have quite a bit of intrigue.

They all seem like perfect future 2nd and 3rd liners.
Fasching IMO is our future Brian Bickell. |

My friend's band is playing at Larkin Square tomorrow with the food trucks if anyone wants to have a good time on a tuesday - homiedclown
That place is cool as hell. My gf and I stumbled upon it one bikeride not too long ago. Seen some really good music there, and on tuesday with all the trucks it's awesome. If I get a chance tomorrow I'll def try to get there. Alan Evans (of Soulive) Playonbrother band is playing on Wed. there, he's a fantastic drummer |

I think you may be underselling Fasching a little bit. I got to watch him at camp last year and he was head and shoulders above the other rookies. I also watched a few Minnesota games last year and he was at times the best player on the ice as a freshman. I wouldn't be surprised if he turned into a 25-30g power forward.
I am curious as the Kings signed McNabb to a 1 way contract. I have seen film but I have never seen him play. Is a 3-4 pairing defenseman a possibility for this season or not. I know the Kings want him to replace Willie Mitchell and maybe take Regehr's spot with Voynov but I don't know how realistic that is. Can he play PK? Second PP? |

That's good on Fasching. On Mcnabb he's known for big open ice hitting. He's got a booming shot from the point. He saw some time on the PP but it was so hard to judge on such a screwed up team. I would think he could be a 2nd pp guy. |

I always liked McNabb but his downside is that he's not the fastest skater. A second pairing isn't out of the question but I always saw him as a 5-7 guy. |

Mcnabb can't skate or read a play well. He's big, likes hitting in the open ice and has a booming shot. Maybe the kings organization can utilize him better than buffalo did. Seeing as how we were always down a goal, he really wasn't put in a position to succeed. Defensive dmen are not helpful when you have a team full of terrible fowards. |

This was the kind of insight I was looking for on Fasching(or the other young kids)! Thanks!
I think the common opinion on McNabb was that he still had some improvements to make with the decision making and positioning in his end of the rink. I think the other half was that he projected to be decent in all facets of the game - possibly not great in any one thing - so I don't see why some special teams time isn't out of the question. Can anyone back me up in this?
Edit: As said above - big hits & big shot. |

Me, Im really excited about Delaurias(possibly misspelled). Big tough kid who can score, has some touch and can drop the gloves. I think he, with Lemieux, Girgensons, Fasching could really make Buffalo a ridiculously tough team to play against. |

He can't turn and skate. That's why he gets caught flat footed at the blue line a lot or backing into his own zone. At least that's what I notice. People seem to get around him way too easily.
His shot is great but lack of mobility makes it tough for him to get it off at the NHL level.

Thanks guys appreciate the input. Hopefully McNabb doesn't turn out to be Keaton Ellerby 2.0 but I'm not overly optimistic. Dean doesn't usually lose trades but I think you guys got two very solid NHL wingers out of the deal. Deslauriers will be interesting to me as well. He was tearing up the AHL, big hits, great hands but most Kings fans saw him as 3rd line NHL winger with more scoring upside but slightly lost at times defensively.
McNabb sounds like a bit of a wild horse. Although it normally takes defenseman longer to develop, especially stay at home guys. |
