IMO Hackett looks way out of place when playing in the NHL. Just looks uncomfortable, out of position a lot, too many holes. I guess I'm not convinced. I think Makarov will end up being better than Hackett, and neither of them will be as good as Enroth (also not a true NHL goalie).
I don't think the goalie of the future is on the team right now. I also think that the team is best served by sticking to an average tender and filling the team up around him.
I think out of all prospects it's up to Lieuwen or Ullmark. - JCSabs06
I would really like the team to give the number 1 spot to Neuwirth and let him show us what he can do. I feel like he's a bona fide number one who hasn't been able to show it yet. |

I think you may be underselling Fasching a little bit. I got to watch him at camp last year and he was head and shoulders above the other rookies. I also watched a few Minnesota games last year and he was at times the best player on the ice as a freshman. I wouldn't be surprised if he turned into a 25-30g power forward.
I am curious as the Kings signed McNabb to a 1 way contract. I have seen film but I have never seen him play. Is a 3-4 pairing defenseman a possibility for this season or not. I know the Kings want him to replace Willie Mitchell and maybe take Regehr's spot with Voynov but I don't know how realistic that is. Can he play PK? Second PP? - QuicksEnnormous
So he will be a player that Hockeybuzzards will use in every trade scenario to get a lottery pick because he just isn't elite.... |

I don't think they will just give it to him....there will be a preseason competition the like we have not seen here in forever, hopefully this brings out the best in both guys......that said, I am hoping neuvirth wins the job....I think he has more long term potential as a starter....if he can stay healthy |

The goaltending position will be the most intriguing position on this team to watch for years to come.
For me at least. |

I agree this is how it should go, and hope it will be the outcome. |

Yeah, I've been a little distracted modding some other threads, but I've done the same here twice today to see if I was missing a new post. |

Neuvirth's issue is health, If he stays healthy, IMO he can put up similar numbers to Miller. Not saying he'll be as good as, just you won't see the huge drop off some fear. |

Cabin has lived with that fear of what will happen with Miller gone. He's shouldering a heavy burden of questions.

Agreed.
Not really a fear , but a change of attitude and blame . The Sabres fan blames a win on our goalie and also a loss. At least that was the rule with Miller in net. Will be a nice change to see fans claiming the TEAM won or loss. |

This season is a great one for evaluating the goalie situation. Put Neuvirth in net for 40-50 games and see what happens. If he shows he can be good then great we might have a starting goalie for a few years. If he flops we'll be one step closer to that lotto pick. Win-win. |

I hope you realize I was joking...we've been brothers on the Miller boat.
It's not that I think he sucked, it's that I think he was here long enough with nothing to show for it, like Ruff, so I always wanted them to move away from him. |

I was gone for the last 5 days I went home (Buffalo) for a few days. I am sure the latest Sammy Watkins catch was discussed.
A friend of mine is doing an internship at training camp with the Bills.
I'll pass along this interesting convo he was having when the catch happened:
He is the text he sent me:
"I was talking to Jim Monos, our Director of Player Personnel, he's right next to me in the video. Monos was mid sentence and just goes "ohh sh!t" leans back to look at Whaley and just says "it never gets old" Whaley replied "frank our first rounder next year"
Anyway, did I miss anything while I was gone? |

It's sad that someone who makes so many people laugh felt empty inside. He will be missed. His stand up bit on golf is one of my favorites. 18 franking times!!!!!!!!!! |

Hey Cab . Just did a walk through "Canal side" on Friday.
I think you may already know that.
I will start pouring on site there next week.
I'm a bit nervous.
The group overseeing the project is the type that pat you on the back and tell you that you are doing an excellent job.
Then 3 days later you receive an email from that same guy telling you all the concrete (heated snow melt) you pumped in is going to get yanked out.
Talk about having to be on my A game.
My wife has never even heard me say I was nervous about running any particular job. She said wow Dave, I have never heard you say that.
I am nervous about this one.
We will have meet up sometime soon to go out for those pops. |

I've read this concern in a few posts now, and I wonder where it comes from. I know he lost the Washington gig to Holtby because of an injury, and I know last year he was "injured" at the end of the season, but (i) I kinkda think the injury at the end of last season was not as bad as his time away might otherwise suggest, and (ii) even if he was injured twice, that doesn't feel like he's an eggshell guy, in any event. |
