He wants to be on the east coast. He's from the Boston area and his brother plays for the Panthers. I wouldn't rule out the Pens either He would have an excellent chance of playing with Malkin if he went to the pens. - PhillySportsGuy

Which IMHO is bullocks! Makes a mockery of the draft, why even have one if players can pout their way out of it. I don't like it. |

Yep. 2 players out of the last 1470 have used an escape clause. Draft is a fraud! |

All players have options that they can choose to exercise. Or not.
I don't particularly have a problem with it. The kid cost himself a year of development and probably a little money. Whatever he is trying to accomplish, it has come at a cost to no one but himself. |

I'd be leery of signing the kid. He's demanding a top 6 role at least publicly. Seems to go against what Hexy is preaching in making the young kids really earn their spots |

Exactly. Which is why I don't think the Flyers are in the front of the race on this kid. |

I think the kid is a talent, not a fan of the way he's going about his business. He would certainly improve the Flyers roster. |

Appease him , and tell him sure we got a top 6 spot for you, sign here. Then make him earn it. What's he going to do at that point? |

Not sure that makes him any different than any other UFA prospect... DeKeyser, Schultz, Frolin, etc, all those guys went to the teams that promised them the most.
Once they sign on the dotted line, and they become Flyers property, it's not like they're then obligated to play them if they can't handle it.
Edit: Jeremy Welsh got $300k cash for spending 1 day on the roster and a free pass into the 'Canes lineup... that didn't stop them from sending him down to start the next year and only calling him up for handful of games total before trading him. |

Rangers are an option as well. I think there's a much better chance of him joining a rival team than the Flyers |

Shultz actually made out better on it because it caused competition for his service. I think the same will happen here and he will make more money as a result. To the point of only 2 people doing it that is flawed logic. Just because a small sample has gone this route does not make it alright. I know Fraud! Comment was a joke but it is not what I wrote or meant. I have to go outside for the rest of the day and can't get into an argument about it but ask any CHI fan how they feel about the loophole or put yourself in their shoes. If this was a PHI prospect may here would be up in arms. |

He is a RW though. Left handed shot has anyone read about a willingness to play LW? |

I don't even think a team will promise a top 6 role. They'll tell him he'll have the opportunity to compete for one. He'll need to choose the place he feels offers the best chance. |

I understand why they traded Hartnell, but losing a natural LW on a team that doesn't have many is really going to make the lineup difficult to set |

Im all for it.
Simmonds-Giroux-Voracek DO IT
That likely puts Schenn and Vinny together again though. NOT GOOD |

Schenn has a lot more experience at LW than Simmonds. We also have Read, Raffl, Umberger, and PEB who can play LW. |

Lets not pencil this Bellemare guy into the lineup until we actually see him play. As far as Im concerned he is a Phantom. |
