Yea importing NYC tap water is common for pizza dough. Apparently it gives the crust a taste no other tap water can provide. - rangerdanger94
I never really understood that. I personally think there are some pizza places on Long Island that are as good if not better than anything I ever had in NYC and LI water is completely different than NYC. Maybe it's close enough to not make a difference. |

Absolutely. Long island pizza is excellent. Its once you get outside of Westchester when things start to get a bit sketchy. |

I dont know if the water thing holds any?
BUT pizza outside long island/ NYC for the most part sucks. There are exceptions but they are few and far between in my experience. I had pizza in miami last year. Guy who owned it introduced himself to me at Set which is a pretty awesome night club btw. Went there a couple days later (the pizza joint) and it was the usual step above dominoes but not close to NY pizza. From my experience thats what "good pizza" is outside nyc/long island. |

I was in Colorado Springs for hockey once, man..what a sh!tty, boring, Christian military town. Not to mention the airport is down in a bowl, of sorts, and the (frank)ing plane pretty much has to nosedive like a Japanese Zero just to land.
So many other places there I'd rather go to. |

Like rangerdanger said and I agree, It has to do with the quality of ingredients, there is a very big drop off in quality as you move further away from NY.
A lot of pizza joints in NC actually sprinkle cheddar cheese in top of the melted mozzarella just before taking it out of the oven... Friggen Sacrilege!

I was over on the other side I guess because it was beautiful where I was. I was in littleton CO. Right around the block from Columbine high school. I went to the memorial site to pay my respects and man was it tough being there. Very emotional to say the least |

Colorado Springs was OK, the town sucked ass but the land was cool. The Garden of the Gods was pretty sick actually, looking back.

Garden of the gods was pretty cool. Pike's Peak which was 14,000 ft up was insane. Red Rocks Amphitheatre was awesome as well. |

I generally don't give a rats ass about going to concerts, but I want to go to one at Red Rocks so bad.
The older I get (I'm not old) the more I'm starting to care less about tropical vacations and the more I'm dying to go to places like this. Big Sky, Montana is tops on my list right now. |

This was my first time out that way. I have cousins who live in Colorado. We went there in July and spent July 4th camping in Wyoming. I'm not the camping type but we camped in Glendo state park on this huge lake and it was awesome!! Jet skiing on the lake surrounded by Mountains & Red Rock canyons. They own a huge RV its gotta be worth like 200,000 its basically a house on wheels. I think we are going to hit Utah next year |

In the book Donnie Brasco, Joe Pistone details how they were running oil tankers filled with New York tap water and bringing it to a pizzeria/restaurant they owned in Florida. Apparently something in our water does something to bread that it does not do anywhere else, and I'm willing it to accept that theory when it comes to our pizzerias, bagels, bakeries, etc. |

Go there and have a steak though.
Every region has its specialties. It's your own fault for getting pizza in Colorado. |

On the Pizza topic:
I go to Oneonta, and all the *famous* pizza places around are owned by Long Islanders. Long Islanders just know what theyre doing. |
