that's pretty well covered in the blog . Not to say they can't... they very well could.
I wouldn't hesitate to name P.K. |

No problem if that is the way they go. But would have no problem with PK or Gally either. Pleks - not sure he's a C, but no problem with the A. - hscesq
Pacs should get the "C", with healing powers like that, he's a real inspiration for the team. |

I just can't see after all they just went through, and all that money for that term, and they do not give him the C..
Time will tell. Sorry, I forgot my laughing guy.. |

I also think they will name Markov captain...though I have to say, as you mentioned that he's been better with the media in the last few years, I often find him rude and looking annoyed by the whole thing. I think being captain would magnify that x 100.
There aren't any other options for it though, I don't see Plekanec as a captain, and others who would be good options are too green at the moment. My choice in a few years would be Gallagher.
I don't think Pacioretty has that in him. They should just let him worry about scoring goals. |

Well said...on all counts.
EDIT: I wouldn't name a guy who's confidence is shaky at best as captain...and that's Pacioretty...he gets in a rut and needs an empty netter to snap out of it! LOL. |

i have no problem with Markov as a bridge to Subban but i cannot imagine Markov wanting it. it's one thing to deal with a few media questions at your discretion. it's another to be the fall guy and have to take the arrows night after night after night. other than that, i do think he'd make a great captain. but i'd have no problem with PK either. Gallagher and TP, pass. Gallagher is too young. he's needs to focus on improving as a player. plus he's too much of a yapper and a target for the captaincy. Plekanec? meh. i think there are better options. |

They could just rotate it...or name three assistants alternates and be done with it. |

I really get this point of view, but does the captain really have to be the fall guy? I haven't experienced that in my eight years covering the team. We talked the Gionta and Koivu the same way we talked to everyone else. Ask the same questions of them as everyone else.
Now, what certain people did to Koivu on the whole french thing over the years was a bloody disgrace, but those clowns are no longer really relevant or covering the team. And that whole thing has kinda gone to bed. The Canadiens have handled it better too. |

Markov's the right pick but it won't happen.
So it's either the silent one (Plek) or the face of the franchise for years to come.
IF Bergevin was serious when dealing vets out of town to make room for the kids because they can pick up the slack in leadership... then PK's the logical choice. |

because he yaps too much, he's a target for the other teams, and in my opinion, a captain should not be someone you rely on for offence production. That's why I really liked a guy like Guy Carbonneau as captain. He was an important part of the team, but he wasn't the guy you would expect to fill the net. |

I'd go with Plek for a couple of years with that logic. |
