Oh, the good old CORSI.
So, what you're saying is that Andrew MacDonals is the worst defenseman in the NHL? Just so that we're clear. - jmatchett383
No. We're suggesting that he had the worst corsi numbers of any Dman in the league. That certainly bears looking at WHY. |

among them, yes.
Hence calling him a bottom pairing d-man.
Any evidence to him being anything other than that? - Schenn-Sational!
If you're saying that Andrew MacDonals is the worst defenseman in the NHL based solely on a team number assigned to a player, you must be even stupider than the average TML fan. |

And will be well under the cap on the first day of the season.
You have David Clarkson signed for 6 more years at $5.25M per with both of your compliance buyouts used up. But I guess that's no big deal. - jmatchett383
Well, no, they won't be under the cap, they will have an exemption to spend over the cap. Where that hurts is in a case where a player who has bonuses is concerned. They can't use LTIR exemption to pay bonuses.
They already had dead cap space because of bonuses earned last season that got pushed to this season because they dipped into LTIR |

Okay. He had a bad number. But that's the sole piece of evidence he provided, which means we can only judge him solely on that number and place him accordingly. |

You have $360K of cap space with no LTIR candidates. That's not even enough for a short-term injury call-up. - jmatchett383

The team's 5M over the cap with 2 35+ contracts, and RJ&VL signed to over 9M... with both compliance buyouts used up. - Schenn-Sational!
See, here's the thing about it:
Umberger and Lecavalier might not work out for the Flyers. That's fine. I can acknowledge the risk in both players.
But. Again: The Flyers made the playoffs last season. After a full, 82-game season, the Flyers were in the playoffs.
Now, Umberger's and Lecavalier's contracts expire in three and four years, respectively. Not ideal, but that's what they are. But those two deals, on a team that made the playoffs, are deals I can stomach. Again, not ideal. But at least they made the playoffs.
You have Dion Phaneuf on a 7x7, and David Clarkson with 6x5.25, both with no-moves...and saw no playoff hockey. As a matter of fact, in Captain Phaneuf's 4.5 seasons in Toronto, you've seen a whopping SEVEN playoff games.
So, ask yourself this: Are you entirely certain the Flyers problems are something to be concerned about?

That's a fact.

corsi rel is designed to show the most accurate individual number, by weighing his performance against the rest of the team's.

23. Which is one less than how many the Flyers have. My point still stands that you can't make a short-term callup. |

No, it's one value. Or else Paul Ranger is a better player than Dion Phaneuf. |

Just pointing out that while the Flyers cap situation is manageable, saying they have plenty of space is wrong. They are in rough shape, unless they rob Peter(the future) to pay Paul(the present) |

Do you think maybe the Leafs might send down a player or two, or do you see them going into the season with 15 forwards?
Just curious. |

One team being the new york islanders.
Who else were they going to play?
The other team being the Flyers... who we all agreed at the beginning of this conversation have a bad d-corps.
The point of all this is that the faith they put in him is misplaced. Using that faith as evidence isn't exactly a solid argument. |

Well this has been very entertaining, I'm glad you stopped by to tell us how terrible our team is.
I'm gonna go home and play with my baby daughter and bang my wife. Enjoy going home to your igloo and crying into your Moulson Ice while watching old VHS tapes of the 1967 Finals. |

Global warming melted our igloos, and the water damage destroyed our beta-maxes.
But enjoy your time with your wife. Definitely a perk of being in the states, as bestiality has been banned here for quite a while. |
