2nd off, if you think i'm actually upset, you are obviously new here. - Doc_Sarcasm
1st off, this is an open forum and all hockey fans are welcome. I'm here just to discuss hockey but you're here insulting people.
2nd off, You do seem quite upset to me, most level-headed individuals don't resort to attacks as quickly as you have. Relax, no need to get mad. |

So you'd rather watch your team make the playoffs and lose out year after year after year and never see your team win the Stanley cup, than sacrifice some seasons and watch them make a deep run every time they do make the playoffs? - BINGO!
You went to the finals twice. You've been around since the late 70s. |

I stumbled on him when he found out that he wasn't getting nights off for the Phillies games because they were moving him to 610AM. Monday night was the biggest train wreck in the history of WIP radio. They pulled him on Tuesday and he was back on Wednesday thru Firday. By the following week he had calmed down and I stopped listening.
That Monday he let everyone on the air: Guys were calling in and just killing him on the air then he would sing them some 90s pop song. I was insane listening to this dude come apart. He want his job back in Houston or where ever so bad. It was so far beneath him to be on AM. He called his mom on the air. I swear it's true. - mayorofangrytown
Why did they let him continue?
I listened to him the other day for a few minutes. Pretty much every call is just a person who wants to (frank) with him. |

How is a something purely subjective more valid than an irrefutable number? - BINGO!
If you think the number given is irrefutable, then you truly don't understand it. When 2 NHL teams have played the player 20+ minutes in all situations, and one team traded for the player and signed him to a long term deal for considerable money. That's a pretty clear indicator of how those teams feel about the player.

See what I mean, folks, about why losers should never be rewarded with high draft picks?
If I was a born loser, yeah, I'd gladly bend over and "sacrifice a few seasons" for a Stanley Cup.
But since losing begets losing and only losers seem to enjoy "sacrificing seasons," I'll take my chances by making the playoffs.

I was leaning towards recent history, but if you want to play that card than, yes, the team historically has stunk. |

Using what stats? - MJL
Possession stats. Not only those either, simply his goal against rate per 60 minutes compared to his own teammates is brutal. He's decent offensively, but on an actual legit contender he's getting paid a lot less and is given sheltered 3rd pairing minutes with PP time, zero PK time and as few minutes against top lines as possible.
$5 million per for that? Sign me up! |

He just hopes I'll get drunk at a game again and go on a 45 minute rant about how the Flyers blew a 3-1 lead in the third. - Jsaquella
Hell, we all look forward to those nights.
Minus the loss part, of course. |

But losers have won the Stanley Cup.
Winners apparently pay $4.5 million for Vinny Lecavalier to play on their 4th line. |

Smid, Carle, Regehr, Klein, an Dekeyser are all better than bottom pairing, and are all in the bottom 20 CF%rel. Brodie, Marincin, Orlov, Muzzin, Stalman, Gardiner, Schlemko, de Haan, and Barrie, and Donovan are all in the top 20 with a minimum 41 game splayed. None of them could be considered a top pairing dman. I don't know why bad corsi dmen should be automatically considered bottom pairing guys when the top corsi dmen can't automatically be considered top pairing guys. After being moved to the Flyers last year, Macdonald posted very good corsi numbers with offensive defensmen, especially Mark Streit. He also posted good CF numbers with Streit in NY. In just over 200 minutes of ice time with Streit in NY and Philly, Macdonald has put up just above a 54% CF. That's promising. I think if he plays extended time with either Streit or MDZ next season, his corsi will skyrocket. - JAKEw1234
That's the one question I have for all the Corsi pundits who think it's this magical number that defines all players. If it's an individual number and not a team number, then who a player plays with shouldn't change anything. If it's an individual number, whatever the number turns out to be, should be completely dependent on the players play, and nothing else. So if a player like MacDonald plays with Streit, and due to Streit's offensive ability, MacDonald's Corsi number goes up, how is it an individual number? What is MacDonald is paired with Streit, and they play a large part of the time with Giroux, what do you think would happen with MacDonald's Corsi numbers? But it's an individual number, not a team number!
And when you bring this up, all the Corsi pundits skate around it and bring up Rel%. As if that's any different. As if you actyally compare in a team game, one player to another, when they're in different situations, playing with different players, and against different players.
Instead of tackling that head on, those that can't just say well they just dismiss the stat, and instead of focusing on the stat themselves, focus elsewhere. Very telling.
