The night he died I watched Cadillac Man, last night I watched Death to Smoochy. I might fire up Good Morning Vietnam tonight, depending if the kids have their cousins sleep over. If they stay here, it'll be Aladdin - Jsaquella

True, I do.
I could go off about the sales department of a certain company and the incompetence that led me to spending 3 hours on the phone over a minor issue that still hasn't been solved. |

Why did they let him continue?
I listened to him the other day for a few minutes. Pretty much every call is just a person who wants to (frank) with him. - PhillySportsGuy
I can't believe anyone on the station was monitoring him. They couldn't have knowingly let that continue. At first I thought they were waiting for him to do something to break his contract but really, at that point if they had offered to let him go I think he would have torn up the contract himself.
After his break down week he went back to what he was doing the first time I listened to him... tormenting callers who hate him and making borderline racial statements.
I was done. |

That makes no sense. Some coaches overuse certain players because their teams just aren't good, meanwhile some teams are quite deep on defense have players who could be top 4 d-men playing bottom pairing minutes.
Using this logic, you're overestimating players on crappy teams and underestimating players on good team. Pretty weak argument. - EagleNuck
That's true for sure, teams sometimes are forced to overplay players. But the point is a Coach normally doesn't overplay a 3rd pair defenseman that isn't that good and is in the bottom of the League among defenseman. Teams don't normally trade for and sign 3rd pair defenseman that are in the bottom of the League, and sign them to long term deals for 5M a year! If you think that's not logical, then logic escapes you.

2009. East Finals. Got swept by the Pens.
No complaints, really. 29 Losers in the NHL every year. the ones that lose worst are the ones that make big trades and lose in the first round. |

Cheap shot. - EagleNuck
It's not cheap; Lecavalier's 20 goals on the second and fourth lines were just one fewer than Eric Staal's 21 on Carolina's first line, on a non-playoff team AGAIN.
They were five more than 10-year man Jordan Staal's on Carolina's second line, who made $1.5 million more than Lecavalier to notch three more points...for a non-playoff team.
So you'll forgive me if the taunt from a fan of a joke franchise that can't make the playoffs is one that I have fun pulling apart. |

Ryan Kesler averaged the 2nd most ice-time in the NHL last year among forwards. Ryan Kesler is the 2nd best forward in the league. - EagleNuck
That's incorrect. Because that's not an analogy equal to what's being said.

So because Lecavalier has played on the 1st line in his career, and technically CAN play on the first line, he is a first line centre? - BINGO!
Lecavalier was most certainly a first line center in the past. I would say it is incorrect to say that he is capable of centering a top line anymore. He's a 2nd line center at best right now.
Flyers just signed Ryan White. They can TECHNICALLY play him as a first line center if they want. Your question doesn't make a lot of sense.

I can't say that I've ever heard him. Now I'm morbidly curious. I usually try to catch Ray Didinger when he's on during the weekends. This past weekend they had Didinger paired with Jalowitz, who I absolutely cannot stand.
As part of my summer reading, I picked up Didinger's "One Last Read", because having done most of my growing up in California I never read any of his columns back in the day. I see what I was missing. |

That's the one question I have for all the Corsi pundits who think it's this magical number that defines all players. . - MJL
There's not a single regular poster who uses advanced stats that feels that Corsi or it's derivative stats are a magic number that defines all players. Most of us have repeatedly stated it has it's flaws and that it's not the end all, be all.
Further, most of us have repeatedly said this, directly to you. You choose to ignore that and continue to bash the numbers because they fail to quantify your opinions. You consistently misrepresent what we have said and accuse us of mis-using the numbers.
Either you are stupid and misunderstood us, or are deliberately misrepresenting what we post. Either way, this is why I ignore you.

Of course it' not 100% accurate on a per shift basis but over a large period of time, there's less luck variance and therefore it actually does become a valuable tool to sue to evaluate how strong a player is. And then you also have WOWY stats as well, another area where MacDonald is mediocre at best.
Stralman blows him away in terms of possession metrics. - EagleNuck
It may be the best tool we have currently, but it's not a strong tool for individual players. Far too much false data involved. That's why NHL teams don't use Corsi as we know it. The problem is not in the theory, but in the collection of data.
WOWY is a poor stat for a number of reasons. One, when a player is moved away from a player he regularly plays with, the sample size is small. And secondly, when a player is moved, the role he is placed in inevitably changes. |

You're a fan of a team that hasn't made the playoffs in FIVE SEASONS, and you're in here talking about how bad Andy MacDonald's contract is?
Here's a newsflash for you, "Bud:" When you haven't made the playoffs in FIVE YEARS, you have A LOT OF BAD CONTRACTS. Your whole damn team is bad.
Yeah, there are 29 losers every year. Clearly, your franchise is on quite a roll at being one of them.
Congratulations! I'm very, very impressed. |
