Possession stats. Not only those either, simply his goal against rate per 60 minutes compared to his own teammates is brutal. He's decent offensively, but on an actual legit contender he's getting paid a lot less and is given sheltered 3rd pairing minutes with PP time, zero PK time and as few minutes against top lines as possible.

Do any of the other players that are on the ice with MacDonald have anything to do with those numbers, or is it just MacDonald? If one player is playing in the toughest situations against the toughest competition, and the least favorable starts. And pretty much everyone else on the team is in a better spots, well then what would you expect.
There's some things that some who just blindly look at advanced stats don't seem to grasp. That Hockey is a team game, and the results on the ice are dependent on a lot of factors. And defense is a tough position to play, especially when the team you play on is not a strong team defensively, is not a strong 5 on 5 team. And you're a 2nd pairing defenseman being asked to play in a top pair role, and playing 25 minutes a night when you should be playing 20 minutes a night.

Let's look at a player like Jake Muzzin in LA. He plays on LA's top pair with Drew Doughty. And he plays on a team that is strong player to player defensively, plays an outstanding team game, and is a strong possession and 5 on 5 team.
What do you think would happen to Jake Muzzin's stats if he was played 25 minutes a night for the Islanders or the Flyers? What would happen to his numbers?

There's not a single regular poster who uses advanced stats that feels that Corsi or it's derivative stats are a magic number that defines all players. Most of us have repeatedly stated it has it's flaws and that it's not the end all, be all.

Further, most of us have repeatedly said this, directly to you. You choose to ignore that and continue to bash the numbers because they fail to quantify your opinions. You consistently misrepresent what we have said and accuse us of mis-using the numbers.

Either you are stupid and misunderstood us, or are deliberately misrepresenting what we post. Either way, this is why I ignore you.

Sure there is. It happens every time a player like MacDonald or Lecavalier is brought up. It's happening right now. You yourself used it as the end all and be all to criticize Grossmann as a player. And when you were called out for it, and it was shown how misguided it was, that's when instead of talking about the player and the subject was changed to other issues such as the above.
It's flaws are just dismissed, because I'm still waiting for those that claim that Corsi is a reliable statistic for evaluating individual players to refute my stance on why it isn't. And it's become pretty clear that NHL teams feel the same way, as evidenced by statements made by Bob McKenzie, and Mike Babcock.

Maybe we can arrange something this season. Need to get Luk up here, though.
