Putting him on the roster is kind of a prerequisite to getting him signed, so... - Tomahawk
It's not really a prerequisite as that can't be done until the end of training camp. Hayes may want assurances of that to agree to sign. But the poster stated that the Bruins would have to make a move "in a hurry" to sign Hayes. And that is not true. They don't need to create any cap space to sign the player. Those moves wouldn't have to be made until late Sept, early Oct. Hence the comment that I made. |

I've heard the same thing and I agree. The real question of signing with Boston is having a guaranteed top 6 spot, both due to the amount of good players they have, and the cap situation to keep him on the roster. - MJL
That's why I'm betting on Calgary, they aren't exactly deep up front. |

I hope hayes surprises and signs with Philly but if not I will resort to the 'he's not really that good w/o gaudreau and I don't want someone demanding a roster spot on this team' shtick. |

Get er done, Hexy! Let's get Hayes. Opportunities like this don't come around all that often.
Good luck, Gags, though I will hate seeing you in a Broons jersey. |

I wonder is Chicago knows something the other teams don't? You would like to think that if they truley believed in this kid some sort of deal would have been reached.
If the only snag was playing time at the NHL level than I guess I can see why there would a huge discrepency.
Doesn't hurt to make an offer from Philly's standpoint. If we get him great, if not it's not the end of the world. |

The Hawk played in the O with, I believe Tony Tanti, the year he tore the league apart.....he was killed on Parry Island, the reserve just outside Parry sound Ontario....where my family had a cottage....I played against him in a men's tourney shortly before his death....he was lot bigger then 200 lbs ...lol...but he was still the best player on the ice.....he had also won defenceman/player of the year in the IHL ....
Edit....After looking it up, it was the feeder league that he had his big year. - landros 2

I'm already beating the rush on this one.
Hayes won't be the same without Johnny Hockey. |

I think they like him, but I think they want him in the AHL for now and he doesn't want to do that. At least, that's what I've read/been told by Hawks fans I know. |

i was going to make a snarky comment about giroux being left off the list but theni read that story about the guy - -davies-
At this point, I'm completely over what national writers say and write about the Flyers. |

I guess what others see as cockiness and arrogance, I see as confidence. If the kid feels he can play at the NHL level, let him. If he ends up being a total joke, than you can ridicule the kid.
If Chicago doesn't have a spot on the roster now, so be it. I get that. Don't ever fault a kid who believes in himself. |

If he's just trying to get the fastest route to the NHL, I have no issue. If he's demanding a guaranteed NHL job, that's a bit different.
I'd like the Flyers to add him, because he is a big skilled kid, but I'm not sure his college production was his own doing or playing with Johnny Hockey |

Have to be real careful what is said in the media about a player. I remember all the negative things said about that one kid back in the draft. All the interviews I saw of him, he seemed like a good kid. And you're right, sometimes confidence is seen as cockiness, arrogance, and smugness.

Giroux seems to be getting less and less respect from people. Left off the list of people who could take the Art Ross from Crosby and, in the TSN franchise faceoff, was beat like 75% to 25% by John Tavares. - aflyerpower8
I'd take tavares as well though it's close |

When I see Tavares do what Giroux has done in the playoffs, then it might be close. Until then, it's not.

I think Hayes would stand a chance at working his way into the top six this season, especially if he can switch from RW to LW successfully.
Also, I don't think Voracek will be taken off Giroux's line. - bmeltzer
I think they should consider splitting the two. |

Agreed. Giroux is a dominating player and has proven to be as such. |

Tavares is getting better each year and is just 23. Ppg go up each year. If I had to choose between the two. Leaving the contracts out I still go tavares |

Giroux isn't getting better also? Tavares is a very good player. But he's not as good as Giroux is. |

Let's look deeper.
Age / Ppg giroux / Ppg Tavares
20 / NA/ .85
21 /.64 / .99
22 / .57 / .98
23 / .93 / 1.12
Yes giroux had had excellent seasons recently. But what is there to indicate Tavares would see any type of regression?
Tavares is primed for many more big years ahead |

20 / NA / 19:15
21 / 15:10 / 20:34
22 / 16:37 / 20:36
23 / 19:24 / 21:15
Probably a big reason why tavares has a better PPG than giroux?

Could be a small factor. But the guy is younger and has a more even two way game IMO |
