At a practical level, do the Flyers make any further move to add a Dman?
One of the problems with UFA signings under the new CBA is that you run the risk of getting an overage guy on an ugly contract.
I think Hextall needs to make a huge deal to get back a good Dman and, at the same time, clear some salary off the books. But, I am not sure how he can actually pull that off.. |

Leighton will be out one night, having dinner at some Chicago establishment, and Kane will just pay for his dinner quietly and leave.
Leighton will never see it coming. - tangent_man

i can't imagine playing in russia was an enjoyable option for leighton, even if the money was decent. i'm sure he wanted to come home, and also give himself another shot at cracking an nhl lineup or using this to parlay into a trade to another team where could play, kind of like boucher did with the phantoms and then got picked up by the sharks. - hammarby31
I think I read somewhere (it may have even been Bill, actually) that mentioned Leighton's KHL team folded. |

where is Sami K on your list?
has to be #1 or 2 - Marc D
My 5 fave Finnish players of all time
1. Kimmo Timonen
Timonen is all heart and guts. While my guess is that his career is over, if anyone can come back from this at age 40, my money is on Kimmo!
2. Sami Kapanen
Kapanen played the game like he was 6'3 220. Who can ever forget the hit he took in the playoffs against Toronto or how well he did on D in 2004. One of the hardest working players I ever saw.
3. Teemu Selanne
Jeez but wouldn't he have looked good in orange and black?!?! One of the classiest players to ever lace em up, Selanne was a goal scoring machine.
4. Ilka Sinisalo
Probably would have had a 40 goal season or 2 if he ever could have stayed healthy. Sinisalo just quietly showed up every night and did his job well.
5. Jere Lehtinen
Another awesome 2-way player that I would have loved to see in Philly. Lehtinen seemed to be in the Selke conversation every season.

I'm totally on board with that. I think they can be an excellent shut down pair. You could then pair AMac with Streit and MDZ with Grossmann. IMO, MDZ has the speed and skill to play the off side. On the PK, I'd then go: Coburn/Grossmann followed by AMac/Schenn.

I don't care what they do as long as Gmann and Fatso never get put on the ice together ever again. |

couid this offseason BE any longer?! jfc. - hammarby31
The only thing thats kept it interesting aside from this site has been the news from the ahl and echl affiliates. The Royals had a STH Barbq at Stokesay Castle yesterday with giveaways and team news. New owner was there in his Royals jersey and socializing, one or two players.
Some minor level player stuff I heard, but nothing of real interest to Flyers only fans
Bummer that a lot of Royals fans are Pens fans , there ought to be a dividing line like the Mason Dixon line |
