I have a gut feeling that is going to be a huge break out season for Sean Couturier. I'm predicting he breaks 20 goals and 50 points and is a finalist for the Selke trophy. - BiggE

Couturier will need to put up at least 10 PP points to get to 50. So hopefully the second unit isn't terrible again. |

well 36 of his 39 points were at ES or SH last year. So if he can increase that to 45, which I think he can, and increase his pp points from 3 to 8, which I also think he can, that would get him to 53. |

Yup, I think he finally started getting noticed around the league last year for his defensive prowess and work on the PK, so, if he can add 12-15 points to his total on top of that, he will definitely be in the Selke conversation. |

Well, assuming B. Schenn takes Hartnell's spot on the top unit, I'd say there is a very good chance that Couturier is on the 2nd. Also if at some point they unload VL, Couturier would all but be a lock for the pp.

Hopefully MDZ finds his game and helps the 2nd unit as well, assuming Streit and Jake are the high guys on the 1st unit. |

I guess I'm concerned that his (and Read's) PP time went down to nil in the PO's with Akeson and AMac getting their spots.
Hartsy and Kimmo are gone, but they did add Umby and MDZ. |

I would flip Schenn and VLC. Also, if he is on the roster, Akeson may take Read's spot. THe pp is where he could likely do the most damage.

He and Rosehill are on the 3rd unit with Grossman, L. Schenn and Raffl.

Rank these 5 scenarios for the 2014-2015 NHL season from most likely to least likely.
1) The Flyers make a trade for an "elite" defenseman (Suter, Subban, Weber, Doughty type) prior to the TDL, with Wayne Simmonds and Braydon Coburn going the other way along with picks
2) The Jumbo tron falls on the ice during a game resulting in no less than 4 casualties, including at least one official.
3) Zac Rinaldo produces 25 points
4) Shayne Gostisbehere makes the team out of camp and becomes the first Flyer to ever win the Calder Trophy.
5) Anthony Stolarz becomes the Flyers' starting goaltender by March. |

I am convinced the Flyers will never be a "good" shootout team.
When we score our goalie lets in every shot, when our goalie stops all but one shot than we can't buy a goal.... - GOA88
In recent years I don't think we've been nearly as bad at some might suggest. We're definitely better now then what we were when the shootout was first brought into the NHL. I had the up most confidence in Giroux and Briere but the pressure would be absolutely on our goalie. What has rubbed me the wrong way the our coaches' approach to the shootout. He sticks to three guys or the star of the game, when I believe everyone should get a shot. I don't think JvR missed a shootout goal last season and we maybe tried him once as a Flyer. Everyone loves Voracek but when is he during the shootout? |

Just throwing this out there... If Voracek is on first unit point. What about Couturier on 2 unit point, and sit MDZ? Couturier is very defensively minded and smart enough to do it... You'd be able to get another forward into the lineup, but not sure how the rest would line up? |

Hopefully although i feel Umberger needs to be a net presence on the second unit. Schenn at some point needs first unit time regularly. |
