Rank these 5 scenarios for the 2014-2015 NHL season from most likely to least likely.
1) The Flyers make a trade for an "elite" defenseman (Suter, Subban, Weber, Doughty type) prior to the TDL, with Wayne Simmonds and Braydon Coburn going the other way along with picks
2) The Jumbo tron falls on the ice during a game resulting in no less than 4 casualties, including at least one official.
3) Zac Rinaldo produces 25 points
4) Shayne Gostisbehere makes the team out of camp and becomes the first Flyer to ever win the Calder Trophy.
5) Anthony Stolarz becomes the Flyers' starting goaltender by March. - jmatchett383

Flyers head coach Craig Berube told NJ.com that he plans to practice the shootout on a much more frequent basis that the club has in recent seasons. Berube said that, when the club does undertake such practices, he wants the shooting participants to take it seriously and do things they'd actually try during a game rather than fooling around with fancy puckhandling tricks and novelty shots. - bmeltzer
Makes a lot of sense. They're the easiest points out there. You've already played 65 minutes to get one point and can add another by winning a short penalty shot competition. It's a no brainer.

I see the PP looking like this next season
Simmonds-Giroux-Lecavalier
Streit-Voracek
Read-Couturier-Schenn
MDZ-MacDonald - GOA88
Problem there is that Voracek and Lecavalier like to occupy the same area of the ice, so not sure if that would work well.

Honestly though, I would bet on both Pronger and Timonen making complete recoveries and being our top D pair before any of those 5.

VL could sit high-slot like Hartsy and be a stronger shooting threat. I imagine that would open up a lot of room for Jake to sneak back-door. |

Setting up where Hartnell used to wouldn't give him as good of an angle for the one timer. He likes to sit off the post on the off side, same as Voracek. |

Yes, there is a 3rd brother who played hockey too, I believe.

I think Akeson should get 2nd unit time over coots. I know this will not sit well with most ppl here but coots is not offensively talented enough yet esp if you need a goal.
I'd say read will be fill in if Akeson or someone is injured or with Amac and or Umber if were down a goal and need a pp goal.

Well first of all we don't even know that Akeson is going to make the team. And secondly, Couturier had two 96 point seasons in Juniors. I would say that Couturier is more offensively talented then Akeson is.

I like the first unit. I would move Read to the point and Bring Umberger in for garbage goal collecting.
Umberger-Couturier-Schenn
MDZ-Read
The problem here is 5 left handed shots. Not sure how they solve that without moving Simmonds to the second unit or giving Akeson a shot at it. |

They could always add something like this to their PP rotation... Jake goes high, Vinny sneaks down to his favorite spot, one-timers aplenty, puts a lot of pressure on the right side of the PK box:

Let's not forget Jason Akeson won the OHL's version of the Art Ross. |

Except for the fact that Voracek is pretty good at the point and Vinny has a lethal shot on the PP. This set up has worked previously. |

Nice umbrella diagram you got there. - GOA88
Would love to see more movement in the PP... if G can hit Jake as he comes across the top of the circle, he could use Vinny as a pick and attack the slot w/ speed... he could take it to the net or kick it wide to G or Vinny for one-timers. |

That set up will absolutely be deadly. It also would make Vinny a useful piece to the team |

They could do that same rotation counter-clockwise, too. Jake sneaks back door, and Vinny shades over to the high circle for a more extreme angle on net. |
