And he didn't play in that pushover of a division the Canucks got to dominate for so long. I wonder if there's an advanced stat for that. |

Canucks were good all over so I'm not surprised Daniel didn't win it. |

There are so many things wrong with this blog series! If you're gonna use analytics to figure out who should have been MVP you need to use more than 3 candidates, use atleast the top 5 vote getters. Secondly you have to take into account how the team did. Zone starts mean nothing to an offensive players value, especially if they play on a team with a lot of defensive forwards. The Sedins started the majority of their shifts in the offensive zone because they provided the Canucks the most possible value there. The Canucks realized that they had a lot of players who could play defence well but weren't nearly as ofensively talented as the Sedins. Using this flawed system you could make the arguement that a 4th liner who never starts in the offensive zone but plays a decent posession game and managed to score 20 points would be a better MVP candidate than the Sedins. |

He uses the three nominees. That is why you aren't ending up with the hypothetical 4th line hart candidate.

Perry had a rediculous year in '11 there is no question or debate about him winning the Heart Trophy. 50g and just shy of 100pts, and if I'm not mistaking quiet a few of those goals either won or tied the game. |

-criticizes argument for only using top three Hart vote getters
-suggests a fourth liner could get the MVP within this argument
