Jesus Chr*st, what the hell happened in here? Did Yetti start showing his 83 hours of home/family videos? is Marwood involved in some sort of extraordinary all night buffet courtesy of the culinary expertise of Mrs Marwood? (Moose on a stick? ugg) was Vantel accosted again for lewd behaviour at the Y? is Nucker still participating in that 72 hour kegger/sorority crawl? And of course I know the rest of you are diligently preparing your bail funds for the upcoming hockey season - Zogg
I showed my piercing, people got scared. |

Always have to love the 'subject to a confidentiality agreement' provision
Well, at least this whole Moore/Bertuzzi thing is finally done with. Maybe one day all of the details will come out.

Messier was my favorite player, until he signed with Vancouver. Now I hate his guts and wish him nothing but continued failure wherever he goes. - james
Messier should be banned from the province under threat of jail and beatings. |

Let's round up a posse and get him. - Yeti1181
No need. Sooner or later he's going to get busted sharing a Texas Breakfast in a NYC bathroom stall with Perez Hilton and George Michael. It's just a matter of time... |

Details are already starting to leak out. Moore nets $22m with Bert only coughing up about $2-3m.
Not bad for a guy who would have been a career AHLer. And nobody starting about poor widdle Steve Moore. This is a prime reason to get rid of the instigator rule. If little weasels like this were held accountable for dangerous hits by knowing the fear of goon retribution. No way would guys like him would be throwing gutless hits like he laid on Naslund, or Cooke on Savard, or Richards on Booth.
Someone should have done the same to Duncan Keith after he laid that hit on Daniel. |

He's a Harvard Grad. Of course, he was going to ask for something ridiculous. Scott Parker, one of Moore's former teammates, had some nasty comments about how smug Moore was about being an ivy leaguer. I hate cocksmoker's like that. |

Agreed, don't get me wrong I feel bad for how his career end as I don't want people hurt but he began by throwing a cheap shot too. |

Moore did not deserve to have a broken neck. I wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy. But he did deserve a modest shyt kicking after hanging an elbow on possibly the best player in the league at the time. I firmly believe he should be justly compensated. But the question is. What is Just? |

Very difficult to come to some sort of monetary number which would represent the amount of earnings Moore would have made. I guess that's part of the reason for such a lengthy delay in bringing this to trial (and of course lawyer's country club and high end escort fees) - Zogg
well, He was asking for 68 million. Not a chance in hell he would have made that over his career being a fourth line plug.
But being settled out of court makes me believe both sides were happy. Which is nice. |

They should have paid him his yearly salary for 4 years. His top earned income x the length of the average NHL'r.
This (frank)ing weasel is an embarrassment. Granato should also get sued wtf was he thinking putting out a 4th line scrub in a 9-2 game, where the other team had swore revenge against that very player. Somehow that gets overlooked. Bertuzzi should counter sue for harassment and defamation as well... He was an elite player when Moore first went to sue, the yearly law suites took their toll. |

Good ahead Mattlock; prove to me that Bertuzzi definitively broke Steve Moore's neck and not the Avalanche of douche bags pulled on afterwards.
As the NHL would say now; it was the result of a "hockey play." |

Very difficult to come to some sort of monetary figure which would represent the amount of earnings Moore would have made. I guess that's part of the reason for such a lengthy delay in bringing this to trial (and of course lawyer's lifetime country club and high end escort fees)
As far as this entire situation goes, I think this incident will always polarize people due to its many elements and controversy, especially as relates to the whole issue of 'predetermination'. Yet, anyone who's played a fast, rough sport knows just how quickly things can unravel, how little time you have to make any sort of decision, and most of all, not to have emotion dictate any part of your actions/reactions within that time-frame.
Frankly, the constraint the vast majority of players show is remarkable considering how violent this sport is, and how quickly the heat of battle can overtake even the calmest of individuals (yes, deep I know)
As such, I can see both sides of the situation. I certainly wish Moore the best and that this allows him to finally move on with his life. Likewise, with Bertuzzi, who hasn't been the same player (and person, I would imagine) that he was before that horrible evening changed things for everyone. |

100% agreed. And no, Bert has not been the player since. I wouldnt say he ruined his career. But he held back a good career that very well could have been sensational. |

You certainly couldn't argue that Bertuzzi was having a fantastic career to that point. In fact, the word Bertuzzi and Hall of Fame were not so far-fetched based on just how good he had become (and was still getting better in terms of his skating and puck control/decision making - even playmaking), one of the league's premier power-forwards - even making a case for being one of the history's elite at that position.
And just like that, in a split second everything turned upside down. It was a tragic event for all involved and, as I noted earlier, I would just like to see the page turned on this dark moment in hockey. |
