no goalie, and suspect d. i still dont see them doing anything special.. this team cant play in its own zone for poop. actually all they do is play in their zone, and baring an explsive first line that is a scoring threat, they lack alot, they have 1 line that counter attacks. but rarely did we see the leafs enact any off zone pressure or let alone shut down the N-zone with any efficiency.

Trading rask set this team back years! also putting a C on dion is a travesty.

But we got loads of CORSI guys now. Yost says we should be good.

Karlsson>Subban

Deal with it.

That's an unfair comparison. You're comparing an elite dman to Montreals 2nd best dman.

I want to know who he thought #1 was. Boullion? Emelin? That bloke from Florida?

Sorry to break it to you but scoring goals is very important.
- JVR_42_PK81

That's true - in going 2-8 down the stretch for one of the worst falling out of the playoffs slumps in NHL history, the Leafs scored a puny 20 goals. And ol' One-ball folded like a cheap suit!

Ahhhh, another beautiful memory from the 47 straight years of failure.....

To be fair, he didn't say he was #2, he said he wasn't #1....... He could have thought he was #3 or #4.

Unlike Leafs fans who wish PM a speedy recovery from this awful disease, unfortunately the hatred towards the Leafs doesn't stop can always be counted on to make light of the situation. God bless Leafs haters

it would certainly mak for one the most flashy d pairings in the league. I agree tho should be a coin toss as to who gets more points. That said on the pp subban does have the edge with his partner. which would inflate some numbers...

I think the debate should move tho, to who finsihes higher. ott or mtl? mtl seems to have kept a fwd momentum after the "ott upset" a few years back, whereas ott seems to be stationary. I put 80% of that on melnyk.

There was some talk about that series on the radipo today and the guys on tsn spoke not about the game, but how out dated the ctc was.. with a cheap owner, the feeling of being on a budget, while being in the NHL, does filter down. I think if the owner seems shakey the whole team will own that feeling too.

- munky123

Right. A big part of that was Ottawa overachieving. The Sens also had vets that insulate the young players: Gonchar, Alfredsson, Kuba.

Ottawa has seen a revolving door of veterans leaving and its a great thing now; they are establishing a core to build around: Turris, Karlsson, MacArthur and probably Ryan soon. Keep adding Dorion and Lee

Sounds like you are conceding on one of the 30+ discussion topics here so far. THAT"S LOSER TALK! Sounds like something Subban and Kessel would both say, who are both < Karlsson 24/7/365

Seriously I thought it was a joke when someone on this thread said that Crosby did not play any defensive hockey. This is a real good article where the reporter gets Malkin to explain why Crosby plays a defensive game as good as Datsyuk, Bergeron or Toews.

http://triblive.com/sport...ve-penguins#axzz3B113Er9o

Last year Randy Carlyle started fairly early in the season and kept saying over and over again that the Leafs were not playing good hockey. Even though they were scoring and winning they were not playing a 200' game, they were absent in their own end and it was only a matter of time before the bad practices caught up to them. Some of you may have witnessed the Leaf collapse at the end of the season. Some people say it is because they stopped scoring goals. Coming down the stretch and in the playoffs good defensive teams score off their defensive control of the game. Teams that rely on offensive firepower alone get shut down.

Some of you have said that Boston is not a great defensive team because they score lots of goals. In order to understand that you have to believe that Datsyuk, Bergeron and Toews would cease to be great defensive players if they score too many points. Or, Crosby could not be a great defensive player because he leads the league in scoring. Oh wait, I think somebody actually said that.

Good story on Zibanejad in the Sun. Coming to camp at 6'2" and 218 lbs. Did lots of weight training this summer, does not think it will affect his speed.

Asked if he expects Michalek (6'2" and 216 lbs) and Ryan (6'2" and 207 lbs) to be his line mates. He said, "maybe." Not a combination that I anticipated.

I've heard Zibanejad looks huge too, him and EK65 must be working out together because the two of them have added a ton of muscle mass the last two years.

I could see maybe Stone being tried with KT as a second line, and 9MM-Zibby-Ryan given the shot as a top line of big guys.

Also, this article is worth reading, just the latest cab being added to the Nick Paul hype train...

Really sounds like this guy, who Murray insisted on getting, is actually a special prospect....6'4", 225lbs, 200' player with a scoring touch and hands? All the talk is that he's probably played his way onto team canada this year at the WJC.

Murray loves size. Ottawa 22 man roster (including Lazar, not including Hoffman or Borowiecki) comes in at an average height of 6' 2 1/2" and 209.3 lbs. Biggest team at start of season last year was LA at an average height of 6' 1 3/4" and 209.8 lbs. but, it is not just Ottawa. All teams (except for Montreal) are getting bigger.

This coming year the entire Ottawa game is going to be built around Karlsson. We will see soon enough just how good he is and if he can pull Ottawa up to an elite level.

You mean Bernier who posted a .923 save % despite facing the most shots in the league.

Hell our backup has a .914 career save % on the freaking Leafs.

at the end of the day, i think you are arguing semantics.. what hes saying is part true. what you dont seem to get, and what he seems to be putting out there, is that the leaf formulae doesnt work. it wont work this year and it wont in 5. the leafs have soooo many holes to their game, that with every step forward, they take 3 back. proof is in the pudding. leafs wont make the playoffs next year with neon dion running the back end.
- munky123

Be honest ,do you think your team is as good as last season,s was??I look at your defense and after markov and subban i dont see much. With no Georges ,it looks soft and inexperienced. The forwards are ok ,but after the first line again there is what really ???Galchenuk ,Gally,Eller maybe .For youth you are hoping for improvement out of ,and some spare part players like Parenteau,Darharn etc .Price is gonna have to be better for the habs to do what they did last season, cant see it sorry

Do you really think Bernier isn't going to regress? It's funny how much Leafs fans said Anderson and Lehner would come back last season (and they did) but can't acknowledge the same thing can happen to Bernier.

Bernier also proved that he breaks down after a while. Late in the season he was horrible and it was because he played so much. If the same thing happens again I can see another groin injury or worse. The fact is that the Leafs rely too much on their goal tending and it will once again be a part of their downfall.

Also, you guys barely did anything to fix the D this year. What if Reilly has a sophomore slump like many young player have?

TO will finish 11th or 12th this year.

Kind of random seeing all of the other garbage being spewed on here. Could this spell the end of the GW2.0 hot girl of the day?
