Man, Lumme was smooth with the puck. Fun player to watch.

As far as Murzyn, he gave it his all, but he had to be the slowest player in the entire league (yes, even slower than Butcher).

P.S. just so you are aware, this thread doesn't exist thereby suggesting some sort of alternate reality/time continuum where Vantel has a Sedin shrine

For what it's worth (today's formal statement):

"Geoff Adair, a lawyer for Bertuzzi, confirmed the case was ''settled in its totality'' but said Tuesday the terms are confidential. The multimillion-dollar lawsuit had been set for trial Sept. 8.

''We are pleased that the resolution of this matter allows the parties to turn the page and look to the future,'' NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said in an email.

The Canucks released a statement Wednesday afternoon saying a settlement was reached and that they planned no further comment on the matter"

Hopefully that finally turns the page on one of the ugliest chapters in Canuck history.

SJ took the captaincy away from Thorton and Marleau. Does anyone else see the similarities with our team and theirs? Hank is the captain of this team, I don't question his leadership.Just the same turmoil on both clubs . I do think we get the worst press between the two.


I don't like the Moore /Bert thing still going on.I always thought it was BS and a 4 th line player taking advantage of our judicial system.It is just insane. The first court case was was lost so try again in a civil suit. NHL and Canucks just didn't want the press so they are going today a player that would have made 2 more mil 10 mil more than what he is worth to STFU .

I didn't care for Lumme skating on his heels. I was always waiting for him to get nailed while riding his heels, I guess that's why he was paired with Murzyn.

I agree, he did have a bit of an unorthodox skating style, but fortunately always kept his head up (usually making the right play - albeit, I recall on more than one occasion where he had a major brain cramp - thus, having Murzyn as his stay-at-home defensive partner worked out quite well)

It would take quite a bit more - even if Horvat was just one piece (let's say the key piece in the offer) to make a deal happen. I'm sure Winnipeg would also want a quality roster player(s) as well as one or two draft picks (probably make them conditional based on final standings or some other criteria). Or maybe another top prospect like Shinkaruk.

It seems like quite a high price to pay, but 30+ goal scoring power forwards that have a bit of a nasty edge, are not easy to come by.

We are talking about GMs here! people who have proven they haven't learned a thing, despite the various lockouts etc. I guarantee there will always be a team willing to over pay (especially considering the talent level of Kane - and the fact that he hasn't even peaked yet).

All you have to do is just look back at even the most recent deals, some of which were bordering on ridiculous. Let's face it, the GM's will never learn their lesson or change their way, they will always be the main characters in the hockey version of Ground Hog Day
