yes Toronto sells more tickets but trust me when i say this, it's been fun/exciting being a Sens fan the last ten years. Not sure a leafs fan can truely make that same claim. - Erik6Karlsson5
What does this have to do with a player's perception of a city and current state of the franchise, organization, budget, outlook, etc?
This is the perfect example of another Sens fan avoiding the question I stated. |

Bobby Ryan will sign. In one of his first interviews he said when he was playing in Cali that he use to admire The Sens and said he was thinking wow what a cool young team they have. They will throw the money at him once they see he is recovered from his surgery and his back is good to go. Ottawa is a great city and they are doing the right thing with building through the draft and developing players. Free agent frenzy is a joke and those contracts always come back to bite the team in the ass. If we are in the playoff hunt we have a extra second round pick and lots of prospects to pick up a couple players, if we are not in the playoff hunt we have some vets we can ship out for picks. I like what the Sens are doing they are buidling the team the same way we did through the late 90's into 2007 era. It's only a matter of time before we start spanking teams on a nightly basis again and Nashville will sure as hell be one of them. |

Bobby Ryan has stated he & his better half like it here in ottawa.. Ottawa is going threw a transition in the core of their roster, a changing of the guard if you will. He was never the go to guy behind Getzlaf & Perry in Anaheim. He can be one here, along with Karlsson of course. Ryan knows this.
Ottawa's team is being built the right way, threw the draft. Not going after over priced UFA's. When the time is ready to seriously contend. They will spend near the cap.
I think he resignes before camp at $7 x 7 years. if he truely doesnt want to stay here long term & wishes to go UFA, he'll be dealt before the season IMO. |

I think the Michalek deal was a fair one. At the very least, it was only a 3 year deal. Last season, as Yost said, he played all 82 games. He's aggressive in front of the net, a decent shooter and he was again the fastest skater in last year's skills competition, faster than Mike Hoffman! He's arguably not a great possession player, but he did play most of his time with Spezza. Remember that Spezza's wingers often had to cover his defensive role. MM played well with Mika in limited minutes and I can see him exceeding last year's point totals.

I also think that Greening was supposed to be Michalek's replacement. That isn't working out so well... Thus, Michalek extension.
And on Bobby Ryan.. As much as I like the guy, I have reservations about signing him long term. He's a great shooter and all, but I'm not convinced he will be a positive net asset after year 3 or 4. He's 27, the typical peak production time is now. He's never been very good defensively, and I can honestly see it turning into the Spezza situation. He will still score, but also be a liability. 5 yrs, front loaded, limited NTC: AAV $8.5MM |

I agree a big 4 or 5 year deal would be preferable to an 8 year commitment.

so you know.. saying a player wont sign with a team because of the quality of their environment IS trolling.
i'm really getting sick of your non stop bashing of the sens.
you keep it up.. it will be the all star break before you're back |

For the forseeable future,we could still trade him after 5 years if things havent worked out as planned

Not a fan of this signing... also not a fan of prock. Can't decide what is bigger horsepoop, this signing or anything prock has ever said.
Re: Anderson - Another 4 years of him? This just doesn't make sense to me... maybe a trade is coming.
Re: Prock - Even if he does get banned, he'll just start posting under his 'sensnucksnocups' handle. |

I think the signing is more than fair. If Lehner does step up over that period, Anderson is signed at a reasonable enough hit that the Sens could trade him.
Now, if there's a no trade attached to it, then I'd obviously change my opinion.

I always thought Rask was named a bust the second the Leafs drafted him. It's confusing sometimes. |

Lehner needs more time, people for get how little he has actually played .Before last season .He had only played 25 games over 3 years ,he was too good to leave in the minors .This deal allows Ottawa to season him into a workhorse starter that we all know he can be .Also everybody saying the deal is too long have to remember we could still trade him ,if Lehner progresses .We probably wouldnt get much in return ,but at least we know that option would be there |

Its Reimer on the trading block and no one would want him
The term is too long on the Anderson deal but it's OK. I am actually just more surprised that ownership would shell out money on goaltending instead of on FWD or DEF. |

the term is fine. the teams plan is pretty obvious looking forward. anderson will be the starter this year, moving towards a 1A and 1B system, likely having anderson as the backup for the last 1-2 years of this deal.
if he doesn't want to be a backup, then no big deal, the cap hit is low enough to easily trade him. the return won't be great, but it never is for goalies anyways.
ottawa is trying to approach this in a similar way to how the bruins developed rask. tuuka wasn't the established starter in boston until he was like 25. lehner is on the same path IMO. |

That...and the fact that having depth at the goalie position is incredibly important. look what happened to tampa when bishop went down, to nashville when rinne went down, to montreal when price went down, etc.
good teams have depth between the pipes. nothing wrong with this signing. especially when you consider that it still only makes anderson the 18th or 19th highest paid goalie in the league, and i'm sorry, but there's NO WAY there are 18 or 19 better goalies than anderson. good deal all around. |

Yep Lehner hasnt played as much as most seem to think ,he had played 25 games in 3 years total before last season .He needs time |
