Agreed, this is going to be a run first, play action team. I think getting Glenn ready and Henderson adjusted to RT will help. - sbroads24
guards are weak...wish they'd make a play for boone from san fran...too bad they didn't need a rb |

Line isn't great, but I think they will be ok if the guards are the weak link.
I also wouldn't move Spiller at this point. He will be a big part if we have any success. I would however move Hackett for a real OC |

You give yourself a much better chance at having the answer when you have a first round pick than when you don't. Teams like Seattle, 49'ers, New England, Pittsburgh, they don't need an answer. The Bills with the 14 years out of the playoffs, the only thing they should be thinking about is in the answer.
edit: Its not their fault. The people in place running the Bills aren't NFL caliber people. The last 10 + years they haven't been charged with running a top notch NFL team. Their only job was to keep Ralph Wilson happy. Make money, sell most the seats by generating offseason buzz. Its been a rudderless ship for so long that no one in the organization knows how to fix it. Russ Brandon got promoted for drafting Aaron Maybin. Enough said. - Buffalo-Sabres
the "answer" for the bills
let's throw a parade:
Todd Collins (45th overall)
Rob Johnson (99th) free agent
Doug Flutie (285th) free agent
Alex van Pelt (216th) free agent
Drew Bledsoe (1st, NE) traded to Buffalo for a 2003 1st round pick (#14 overall)
JP Losman (22nd) Bills trade 2003 Nos. 43 and 144 plus 2005 1st rounder (#20) for Losman
Trent Edwards (92nd)
Ryan Fitzpatrick (250th)
EJ Manuel (16th) Bills trade down from 8th overall and add 46th (Kiko Alonso) |

imo, the guard position, at this point is the most glaring weakness on the team...the rb position is the strongest...
without holes, spiller has a hard time gaining yards and ej has a game like the tampa game |

idk...just felt like documenting the qb's for buffalo post-Kelly...pretty wide-ranging in terms of draft position, though...
a first rounder isn't necessarily "the answer" either...I've already mentioned the 2011 draft where three teams wasted a first rounder on a "franchise quarterback"..
in 2012 the fish picked tannehill, who has shown signs of improvement, but is still average and the browns picked wheeden who was a bust

Most good/great teams will have a weakness or two like that.
If the Bills are in fact a good team, they will overcome one position that isn't necessarily an important one. If they are a bad team, it will give them another excuse. Marrone is an O-lineman. If he can't make that a point of emphasis to coach them to at least a playable level.....Then he shouldn't be a head coach |

i'm with ya...chan gailey was good at masking weakness on the offensive line
the superbowl winning seahawks have one of the biggest, baddest offensive lines in the game...
am of the opinion that they help Wilson's game out immensely |

nice...thx for the head's up on that one...btw, from the article
"[Mankins] surely represents an enormous upgrade for the Buccaneers, whose offensive line play this preseason has been frightening, especially at guard." |

But what's the transfer agreement? Is it starting QB or back to Canada?? |

San Fran was awful until a Harbaugh took over. They piddled along with Alex Smith who was drafted 1st overall. |

It is my recollection that this (essentially) same line kept Fitz off his back. Or Was it that Fitz was good enough to make the line look respectable. EJ is so Clueless that he makes them look inadequate. I think the line is fine.
If the defense doesn't respect the pass, the running game doesn't work...unless your name is Adrian Peterson, then it always works....despite the train wreck QB. |

cordy glenn had an excellent year...next to him was andy levitre, who was real solid, but they let him walk...wood anchored the middle...and before they were injured, hairston and brown were serviceable...gailey, as mentioned earlier, was a master at masking weaknesses on the line...
much more going for fitz |

To brake up the football talk on a hockey blog (prolly won't work)

the wings I had at duffs a few weeks ago were traditional...fried crisp, tossed in sauce and served steaming hot...perfect...and the place was packed--45 minute wait
having travelled all over and eaten a few wings, I've found most places eff up the recipe by not cooking them long enough or try to re-invent the wheel by adding too much stuff to the original recipe |

My biggest pet peeve with wings is when they're not even remotely crispy. They shouldn't be slimy, yet some places don't allow them to cook long enough to get some crisp on them. |

it kills me...cooking wings is not rocket science...if they are a bit soft, somewhat slimy, drop the damn things back in the fryer for another minute |

I just got a deep fryer and my life is significantly better. The wings here are subpar at best. When the "best" place to get wings is either Buffalo Wild Wings or Wing Stop, there is a problem.
Well, it's no longer a problem for me. Thankfully. |
