EJ freaking completely blows....the sooner they give up on bin the better..he is like a long line of other check down QBs. D's will drop 7 and let him have the 3 and 4 yard passes. His throws are very inaccurate when he does go past ten yards.
Bad bad bad. - IonSabres
I have never seen a qb so inaccurate on check downs to rb's, he is setting these guys up to get killed. |

I would make the trade but I doubt the team picking 1st would.
It would be like trading Tavares for Ryan and Turris. They're both good players but you know you'd take Tavares over them. - Sabresfan-365
I'm confused. How is that an accurate analogy? Tavares, Turris, and Ryan were all drafted in different years. |

I was trying to illustrate the difference in levels between McDavid, and the rest of the pack. As in Ryan and Turris (who actually went 2nd and 3rd overall respectively) are both very good, but I'd take Tavares over both of them.
If you want one from the same draft year you could say Crosby vs Ryan and Johnson but Im assuming whoever goes third overall this year to be more valuable than Johnson |

I just looked over the 2003 draft. Wow. The quantity and quality of the players drafted to that year is amazing.

McDavid has been a lot more visable than Eichel . We really to get a better look at Eichel this year at BC . I have seen McDavid a lot and think he is amazing . Want to see more of Eichel. |

You don't give enough credit to Eichel |

While I agree with 99% of the blog, especially the old Core philosophy, we have to give credit for Regier drafting both McCabe and Girgensons... The "New core" still has some Regier in it, and both have a chance to be pretty solid pieces. McCabe we shall see (I really liked him in worlds), and Girgensons was a lone bright spot in an unwatchable year. |

He's actually playing for Boston University. I actually think he's not being given enough credit right now. I might actually like him more at this point. |

Agreed. He's sick.
Someone said the difference in talent between 1 and 2 is like Tavares to Ryan...I'd argue this is more the case of Ovechkin to Malkin. |

Regier finally realized that his vision wasn't working, but it took him way too long.
He didnt have the guts to trade one of the core players for someone with a completely dynamic. I remember hearing a rumor here a while back that at one point, he had the opportunity to trade Pomenville for Brown straight up. While we'll really never know if thats true, its the kind of thing we have seen other GMs do that we really never saw Darcy do. I also often wonder if some of these more recent draft choices were more
kevin Devine's choices than Darcy's. |
|
|
|
As popular as it is to rag on Darcy, I have to say I feel he was one of the best at making trades. He had some bloopers, but getting Breire, Drury, and selling off Guastad, Vanek, and several others for top value has put this team in an amazing position. We have 3 picks in the 2016 draft, 2 of which are more than probable to be top 15, likely top 10. That Isles trade was one of the best in franchise history. (and probably in the top 3 worst for the isles, which is saying alot....)
He did draft fairly well. Pominville, Roy, Gaustad, campbell, were all talent he picked out, and we had a solid run those 2 years. If he had deeper pockets, I have no doubt we would have had more D depth and the whole Rory Fitzpatrick bumbling in the PK would never had happened, and we win that cup, not carolina.
Anyway. I just give the man credit. |

BC will still be worth watching as Hanifin and another top US draft prospect Center Colin White will both be attending. I've seen a couple mocks that have White going as high as 5th overall. |

Based off what the 5 or so world junior games he played in? (and mind you he wasn't very good in the games against Russia and Canada).
I may very well be under selling eichel but that's probably because i haven't really seen him play all that much. Big year for him this year as you said he's going to BU so hopefully there's more of him to see.
Hard to talk someone up when you see so little of him though. |

It's an interesting article in the paper this morning. I find myself on the side that says "no way" to a publicly funded stadium, but the reality is, the city is being held hostage, or is going to be very soon. The NFL owners are simply saying "if you want our product in your city, you're going to build a new stadium", and they have the clout to follow through on it. Perhaps, once Pegula wins the bid, he sells another piece of land and builds a stadium himself, or gets Jeremy Jacobs to help him do it, as a report said a couple of months ago. However, I can't see either of these guys, fronting another $1 billion to build a stadium, from which they would have to split the majority of the revenues with 29 other NFL teams. There's also the matter of whether or not a new stadium could generate those kinds of revenues in a city like Buffalo to begin with. The people and businesses here simply don't have that kind of money, unless they can figure out a way to get Toronto businesses to buy in.
Maybe it was just the atrocious performance last night, but the more the facts emerge about what a new stadium would cost, and is needed (whether we like it or not, if the owners say we need one, then we need one, that's just how it goes), the more I think this city might be better off without an NFL team. It will be painful though. |

That came from the same source that also said Pegula's bid was in excess of $1.2 billion when it's not even close to that. I'm not so sure they're planning one so much as they've merely brainstormed. |

It is unlikely that whomever is picking #1 would trade for #2 and #3. I know I wouldn't do that, nor would I want to trade both picks to move up. I think that in the scenario where we have #2 and #3 we will get great players that will fit in with what we already have.
Does Hannifin make Myers expendable? Sorry, couldn't resist. - thatsapickle
Hahaha
Seriously though...
I never WANTED to get rid of Myers, just like I don't want to get rid of Ennis &/or Hodgson...
But there's only so much icetime
If we are drafting guys that mgmt thinks is gonna be better than what we currently have... Then yes, that does make them expendable |

It's not like the Ralph is in bad shape or anything...
But while some might say Buffalo can't support a stadium like Dallas or San Francisco does... Owners see new stadiums making more money in places like Pittsburgh, Cleveland, etc... So it makes sense for them to think a new stadium would make more money here as well
Especially if it goes DT where so many other projects are going on |
