Jake Voracek is entering his 7th season in the NHL. Six seasons is already a high number. Sure he has the ability to do the things you've named but he also has to do it.
As for the goals you claim Ryan got with Getzlaf and Perry, you left out last season when he no long had those two players playing with him. To me, most including yourself is selling one player short because he's not here and overrating another because he is. Ryan didn't get all his goals playing with Getzlaf and Perry. He wasn't always a regular on the first PP unit because Selanne would often step in and there were many times where Ryan was separated from Getzlaf and Perry. Even if Ryan spent his entire Ducks career with Getzlaf, even better because you got a pretty good idea of what he can do with a playmaker...like Claude Giroux? - SuperSchennBros
Never said Ryan got all his goals from Getzlaff & Perry. Just noting that he did spend the bulk of his time as a Duck with those two on his line.
I'm not saying he wouldn't do well with Giroux. I'm just saying they already have guys under contract for less money that could probably step in now and score 30 with Giroux. Simmonds had 29 last season playing most of his ES time with Schenn & Lecavalier. Pretty sure if he spent his time with Giroux he'd have potted 30+. Read had 22 playing in a shutdown role against top competition. Again, I'm pretty sure with the number of offensive zone starts and role he'd have with Giroux that he could break 30 goals, too.
Voracek has been doing those things since being acquired by the Flyers. He never had anything close to Getzlaff or Perry in Columbus and spent his first year as a Flyer on the second line, rather than with Giroux.
The bottom line, for me, is does Ryan bring something the Flyers can't get elsewhere? I say no, because they have a number of guys that could be 30 goal scorers if used with Giroux. He's a good player, but the Flyers have guys that can come close to replicating his production who are already on their roster. |

It's fun to look at future star FA coming up. Me I'm looking forward towards our farm system. There are some really really intriguing players most d men in the system who should be ready to go by 2016. We also have a very young forward core who most haven't hit their prime yet. G voracek schenns couturier Simmonds raffl read are all young enough to wait for these d prospects to emerge. Laughton looks to be 2/3c whos ready now. Morin hagg and ghost seem like all high level d prospects with huge potential to do some damage. Moron is going to be scary as heck patrolling the blue line. Then sanhiem and nik aube kabuel will also be ready. |

Voracek's just a much better skater. Jagr can put those weights on his legs during midnight practices all he likes but they also look like they are permanently mounted to his skates even during games. - SuperSchennBros
True, but I mean back when Jagr was fast. |

(frank) that just made me realize that rival team's fans will call him Moron after he's in the NHL.
EDIT: and we'll probably call him Moron every time he takes a penalty. That'll be rough. |

I really can't argue with this. I agree with every word but I'd definitely would add Ryan if we could because I believe in the player and I think Ryan is at an age that would fit well with this team. I couldn't believe my eyes when I compared the numbers but Ryan's actually a much more physical player then Rick Nash. |

He's not an especially physical guy, and neither is Nash. He does use his size to create space and get to the net, but he's not as physical as, say, Hartnell.
I'd have other items on my shopping list before adding a guy like Ryan. Now, if they trade a guy like Simmonds to land a defenseman, absolutely, Ryan or somebody like him, would top my wish list. |

As much as I want to see Ryan on Philly it has to be a contract with a hometown discount. 6.5 no higher. He is going to get 7 and be able to pick his team. I say he gets his lifetime contract in Philly at 6.5 cap hit. But you also have to look at the future. Is Ryan worth possibly losing Simmonds or voracek when they at ufa? I say no. I'd take Simmonds over Ryan anyday of the week. |

Right now, Ryan is a better goal scorer than Simmonds. Two years from now? I wouldn't give him much more than the $5.1mm he's getting now. if that means he goes elsewhere, oh well. |

I think most of us are excited about our prospects as well but I do fear the future decision making the team will have to make. I'm not sure I buy that Samuel Morin, Travis Sanheim, Shayne Gostisbehere, Mark Alt and Robert Hagg will all become Flyers one day. That's five different young names. Luke Schenn and Michael Del Zotto are young and still possible future consideration players. Coburn just turned 29 this year and probably still has 6 to 8 decent seasons left in him. |

Agreed, the Flyers are not top tier contenders. They could be in a couple years. That's when I'll need the better goal scorer. At that time, it might be Simmonds, and he'll still be cheaper than Ryan. |

I'd have a really hard time parting ways with Claude Giroux, Steve Mason, Wayne Simmonds, Luke Schenn, Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier, Matt Read, Jake Voracek and Michael Del Zotto right now. These are a collection of young NHL players right now but of course my opinion will change from season to season. Also we can't move Scott Laughton, Samuel Morin, Travis Sanheim, Shayne Gostisbehere, Robert Hagg, Mark Alt or Anthony Stolarz until we get a serious look at what they can do. |

Youre giving the youth a little bit too much certainty I think. Calling a proven NHL defenseman like Schenn a "future consideration" because of 19 and 20 year olds who haven't ever played an NHL game, some of whom haven't even played an AHL game yet, is silly. |

Probably not. Alt I don't even see making the team at all.
I do however see ghost hagg and morin all given time in the orginization to prove themselves whether they do or not is still anyone's guess.
Morin to me is the most interesting. He has a cockiness to his game that I love. He has a swagger that not a lot of prospects have. He has a legit chance to be that number 1 mean pronger mold. Not to mention he has pronger there to help him build himself into that. I'm not saying he's pronger by any means just FYI lol |

For me it's hard for me not to look at LA and the age of the players right now that led them to their 2 Stanley Cups. Kopitar, Williams, Brown, Carter, Gaborik, Quick and Doughty. I'd say the average age is a little older then our "go to guys" but we're close. I think I'd really like to enjoy the excitement of adding Bobby Ryan the same way they were able to add Carter at the deadline and Gaborik at the deadline. |

So what are the AHL lines looking like? From what I've picked up it's looking something like:
Gordon-Laughton-Jones
Alderson-Cousins-Straka
Leier-Powe-Hextall
Noebels-Stortini-Fytin
I can always hope Rinaldo or Rosehill will be mixed in there somewhere.
Alt-Manning(or someone else, I don't think they ended up resigning him?)
Ghost-Hagg
Pettersson-Lauridsen
Konan
Zepp
Stolarz |

Our offense is as good if not better IMO then la at least as far as top 6. The biggest difference is la drafted one of the best d men in the league in doughty and have a top top top goalie in quick. Philly is young enough to wait for the d prospects to arrive. We've tried for years to acquire a num 1 dman. Still hasn't happened and probably won't without basically losing our 2nd line entirely. |

I think you're reading into my post the wrong way. In order for these players to make the Flyers, players will have to be shipped out. Coburn and Schenn are NHL defenseman with a lot of years left in them. These young players would have to take their jobs to get into the NHL. Luke Schenn is still relatively young. |

Philly is going to push hard to trade coburn. I don't see him fitting in the future plans. I don't see him getting an extension either. Whether he puts up 50 points or not. We all know what coburn is at this point. He is a 3/4 at best with little offense. Schenn is still a growing and has flashes of brilliance and huge lapses. He needs time and I think Philly will let him continue to grow. |

For sure. Jobs will also open up, for instance, I still don't see Grossmann being with the team for too much longer. I think the team's belief in two-way play isn't exclusive to forwards, and that they're looking to fill out their roster with more complete dmen. |

This season is all about b schenn and couturier. It's time for them to really cement there places in the league. Couturier has already done that on the d side but needs to bring goals and points. He also needs to be given a chance with pp and an easier es minutes to produce those points. |
