Ironically, the only time the 4th-line was relevant last season was when Vinny was scoring goals down there... - Tomahawk
I'd rather see a Raffl-Lecavalier-Bellemare/Akeson "4th line" than a Rinaldo-White-Bellemare/Akeson one |

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on Jason Akeson? He was a really good junoirs player. A pretty good minor league player. Now I wouldn't be surprised if he got more of a shot but I really able to buy into the hype of his storyline in the playoffs like NBC was able to. He actually reminds me more of a Stefan Ruzicka. - SuperSchennBros
My thoughts are that he deserves a good look and a chance to make the team. Nothing more, nothing less at this point.

According to the Vancouver Province's Tony Gallagher, NHL expansion to Las Vegas is a "done deal" and says there's fire behind the smoke of the NHL adding Seattle, too |

I see no reason why he shouldn't get a good, legitimate shot to make the team. He showed good smarts, the ability to read a play offensively, didn't seem lost of defense as some suggested he would.
Will he pan out? Who knows? He's not a can't miss guy, but he sure seems like he's got the brains and work ethic to make it work - Jsaquella
I felt he wasn't physically strong enough or quick enough to react in certain situations. |

I think he has been one of the team's most effective forwards in the games he's played at the NHL level thus far. There were a couple games against the Rangers where he was their best forward, IMO. |

If Schultz wants #55 he has to go thru this guy.
(Really though, lets hope neither see Flyers action outside the preseason this year.) - hereticpride

We were all dying for a Coyote clone organization.
Hockey in Las Vegas is such a putrid idea. Way to go Bettman |

Feel free to provide video evidence, because I can't recall a single instance myself where he was a liability outside of that double-minor.

Atlantic Canada would have done well with a team.
But lets try to deep throat it more down the US market. |

He didn't state that he was a liability. I think Akeson played well in a small sample of games. Let's see if he can one, make the team. And two, play at a high enough level to stay there if he does. |

Talent and skill wise he is def top 12 player on the flyers it just comes down to what coaching wants to do with the 4th line. If they want to be able to roll out 4 skilled efficient lines that can chip in then Akeson def fits this team and maybe in top 9 with a guy like raffl being the all around anchor on the 4th line. However it sounds like chief has plans to use rinaldo as a energy guy which hurts Akeson odds of cracking line up and being with the organization. Personally I think Akeson has a role on this team as a third wheel offensive guy who can be placed with two defensive guys in offensive opportunities and/or fill in on pp if needed.
He also doesn't have a ego that he needs to play big minutes like guys in the past that we have used in limited offensive roles which is a bonus. |

Timonen will be seeing Flyers doctors tomorrow. - Jsaquella
If he wants to play again he will. A lot of the articles I have seen are typical sensationalized media BS. Clots are a serious thing, and he will need time to recover but I could see Kimmo back on the ice again.
Whether or not its worth it at his stage in the career path is another thing. |

Seattle is a good choice. Along with QC.
Vegas is laughable. Although they might attract more FA than Winnipeg. |
