That probably shouldn't be viewed as a solution to.... well... anything.

The Pens need a bizznasty, if your going to play guys like Jayson Megna you might as well sign and play Bizz.

What the hell for? What does he bring to the team that you need? The ability to get punched in the face? Any idiot can do that.

Why don't you go do it for close to a million a year? Any idiot can right?

Interesting article...I mentioned the idea of 'pairs' a few weeks back...and how it seems to be a trend. It makes sense from a game planning and financial standpoint as well.

Johnston talks about that here (the game planning part):

@coreypronman: Will the NHL Vegas team use Michael Buffer to start every game? I mean, they have to right? It's probably a law.

Because he sucks. We have 900,000 remaining for call ups over the course of the season. Guys like Payerl and Uher only cost 600,000 and play just as if not more effective than Bizz. Bizz was lucky to play in the league as long as he did to be honest.

Sutter played some of his best hockey as a wing. I think he actually has a better skillset as a shooting winger than he does as a checking center. He's very good at knocking the puck away from oppenents and blocking shots, but not so great at actually hanging on to the damn thing.

I completely agree.

The "pairs" idea works really well with a top six that still has plenty of questions as well. Malkin and Hornqvist should have good chemistry from the get the go, anyone who goes to the net on Geno's line Geno likes. So that allows Bennett and Dupuis to float around early on to find a good spot.

The key is to find a comfort guy for Sutter, who might benefit from a shift to wing.

I agree with Grapes: get some muscle on Sid's line who can play. Good examples are Ward & Brouwer @ RW. They can skate, score, cycle and fight, if needed. No use having an enforcer who can't play on Sid's line, but Sid really has been taking abuse from opponents the past few years. Cripes, he's their meal ticket---gotta take care of him.

How can you say size is overrated with respect to trying to win a Cup? You absolutely have to have 4-5 quality big players if not more.

2014 Kings: Brown, King, Carter, Nolan, big D..big team
2013 Hawks: Bickel, Bollig, Seabrook, Hossa, big FW's
2012 Kings: Carter, King, Penner, Nolan, big D
2011 Bruins: Chara, Lucic, Thorton, Boychuk, Wheeler, Horton, etc.. big
2010 Hawks: Buff, Ladd, Bickel, Brower, Seabrook
2009 Pens: Guerin, Stall, Gill (closest to an exception the past 6 yrs)
2008 Wings: Franzen, Cleary, Holmstrom, Kronwall
2007 Ducks: Penner, Pronger, Perry, Getzlaf, Niedermayer, etc.. huge team

Pens last year: bortuzzo, orpik, Malkin, pyatt, Neal..point is, size is not the sole important factor. Are you talking about grit, skill? that needs to be combined with size. Don't just let a guy fill a roster spot because hhe's large. Kunitz, Cooke etc were just as effective as these larger guys you list.

NBA like to draft Big guys. I mean, some stupid a$$ picks just because a guy is 7'1".
