So lets do a fun exercise and list the teams in the EC you have ahead of the Flyers. See if we can come up with 8
Wings
Rangers
Canadiens
Bruins
Penguins
Lightning
Devils
I've got 7. Teams I consider a push with the Flyers are the Leafs, Jackets, and Islanders. Squarely on the bubble |

I think the Flyers can land anywhere in the mix with the Red Wings, Devils & Canadiens.

Which means nothing now. Lecavalier isn't being demoted to the AHL, placing him on the fourth line or scratching him would be stupid if the team is trying to up his value. - SuperSchennBros
His contract prevents him from being demoted to the AHL, without his permission, but if he's not effective it won't stop him from being demoted to the 4th line or scratched.
The Flyers main goal will be to win games, not to up Lecavalier's value. If he's as ineffective as he was last season, they'd be stupid to not demote him to the 4th line, like they did last season.
Last season is relevant now, because Lecavalier may well be declining to the point where he can't be an effective player anymore. What he did in Tampa is irrelevant, if he's playing bad, he should be in a limited role. Same for Akeson or any bubble player. |

I got 4 I think are clearly better...Pens, Bruins, Bolts & Habs. Could be convinced to add the Rangers to that. But I think that they are right there with pretty much everyone else. |

Im not a big fan of the Bundy/Coates swap. I listen to a good amount of games on the radio. Having to hear Coates throughout as the color guy is making me cringe already. Bundy with Jones on TV should be fun. But they kind of bring a similar element in style. Overrall I'm getting more Coates and less Bundy by a wide margin. Not very good |

Upping Lecavalier's value helps the team win games. If he plays well, he ups his value while helping the team win games. If he ups his value we might find a trade partner to improve the team. Lecavalier playing on the fourth line shouldn't be a thought in anyone's mind. It was a stupid move, which in my opinion could be another reason why he's still here. 82 games is a long season. Lecavalier season fourth line duties in October to me is dumb. |

Those WC jerseys, the entire outfits, look fantastic. I wouldn't mind them playing a whole season in them.
Hopefully they'll put some on sale again if they are indeed the alternates. I have a Giroux one I got off ebay but it's not the full authentic one. |

If he's playing well, then yes, upping Lecavalier's value does help them win games.
If Lecavalier's playing like he did for most of last season, he's not helping them win games and should be used in a limited role, as he was last season down the stretch. He was playing poorly, and the lines he was used on saw their effectiveness drop when he joined the lines.
The stupid thing was waiting until the end of the season to put him on the 4th line. |

Saunders could do games by himself and it would be fine. I cant imagine Coates has many more years in him tbh. I wonder who will eventually replace him? Fedoruk is the only other former Flyer I've seen doing any sort of broadcast stuff...
All I know is Boruk had better stay to bathroom/beerline time. |

He wasn't anymore effective at center than wing. That's the trouble. He was pretty much bad everywhere they tried him
He scored 20 goals. That's great, but he was ineffective at just about every other facet of the game. Whichever line he was on struggled at even strength, whether it was Simmonds & Schenn or Couturier & Read.
It's possible that he will rebound, but I'm not counting on it. I'm definitely not expecting him to be what he was 3 or 4 years ago in Tampa Bay. His poor season last year could be a blip in the radar, it could also be the start of a decline that sees him become a shell of what he was.
The past doesn't matter if the player can no longer be an effective player. Last season, for whatever reason-injury, misuse, bad line mates, his own inability to adjust his game or Vinny being a player in decline-he was not effective.
What good is a guy with 400 goals on his resume if he's hurting the team by being an anchor who can't play defense and keeps good young players from reaching their potential? |

So what does any of this have to do with Lecavalier vs. Akeson? Lecavalier will be a Flyer this season, Akeson might be. One is an NHL player, the only hasn't proven that he is yet. |
