They invited Kaberle, too.
Odd, because the Devils who are usually tight lipped came out and announced that they were inviting them and the Flyers wouldn't discus Penner or Malone. - Jsaquella
who knows?
i always liked gomez. he's take a beating in recent years from the fans, and i understand it to a point. i'm rooting for him. somehow i'm able to look past his devils history. |

i agree, and i wish others did too. it would remove a lot of lengthy, pointless conversations in here. i skip over virtually every single post i see with a breakdown of line combos. i literally could not give two flying (frank)s about this topic being debated. - hammarby31

I can't do it! It was really hard for me to look past Arron Asham or Max Talbot but I have to admit that I love them both now. Jagr was weird at first but he was easy to swollow because he left Pitt on bad terms and I can't remember his exact words but he was pretty much booed every time he'd returned, so when fans expected him to sign with Pitt once he returned to the NHL, he couldn't understand why. Why would he wanna go back there after all of that? Much respect Jagr! |

as a general rule, i hate all players who don the uniform, first, for the rangers and devils, to a lesser degree the penguins, caps, and islanders, and never wish to see them in a flyers jersey. for some reason, i just like gomez.
i really liked jagr with the flyers and was disappointed he didn't return. if he had been on the 2010 team, it might have been enough to put them past chicago, even with leighton's subpar performance. |

Gomez's family runs my hamlet. The bratwurst guy outside my building is his cousin. Perhaps a move is in order. |

I'm watching the Pens/Flyers game at home in late March. Full roster! After months of not watching a hockey game, it's really hard to adjust to watching the play and puck movement and have really good vision. |

I have a question. Bobby Ryan vs. Phil Kessel, who do you prefer? Now I suppose the numbers would suggest Kessel is the better play because he has the better numbers and has been one of the league leaders in points in recent years but to me that has a lot to do with how Kessel is used in Toronto. Kessel has been all the Leafs have had to lean on since being traded there. Even in Ottawa last season I've liked the more balanced offense with Jason Spezza, Clarke MacArthur and Kyle Turris. In Anaheim Ryan obviously had Getzlaf, Perry and Selanne to play behind. Now this isn't a question because I have interest in Ryan but how simular he seems to me to Kessel. Would Ryan be as successful in Toronto?
Insults need not apply. |

I'd take Kessel. He has been doubted a lot and always responded with good play. Guy is a winner and can be the og to guy. I think Ryan is more of a complimentary player. Just my 2 cents |

Kessel. Not even close. Ryan's always had very good linemates, while Kessel has produced well no matter who he was saddled with |

You're being too literal.
Yes, I agree that expecting Akeson to be one of the Flyers best skaters night in and night out over the course of a full season is foolish. However, to dismiss the possibility of him being an effective third liner over 82 games is ignoring how well he played in a tough situation.
Again, I see people suggesting him as a 3rd or 4th liner, not as Giroux's left wing.
As far as Lecavalier goes, it seems as if you're saying there's no doubt he can return to what he was and there's no question he should be the second line center and it will be fine, because he's had a good career.
I don't know if he can rebound, because a guy that plays as poorly as Lecavalier did for most of last season at a somewhat advanced age sends up all sorts of red flags.
I'm not even sure it boils down to Akeson or Lecavalier. Given my druthers, I'd lean towards making them linemates.
Just5 posted lines earlier that made quite a bit of sense, especially if Berube is dead set on keeping Giroux and Voracek together and Couturier and Read together. And if you're going to discuss keeping one guy or another, then it definitely isn't stupid to look at where he will end up playing.
The lines were
10-28-93
24-14-17
12-40-42
Bellemare-White/Laughton-Umberger
Those lines give decent balance on paper and could relieve the pressure on Couturier, while also increasing the offensive opportunities his line would see. - Jsaquella

I'm considering the injuries more then most have. Lecavalier wasn't very good after the injuries. I don't care if Lecavalier, Holmgren or Berube say he wasn't bothered by injuries. Not many will use injuries as an excuse. - SuperSchennBros
I'm considering the injuries. I'm just not ignoring his age and inability to find a spot in Berube's system. I'm still more concerned that a 34 year old is in decline and is incapable of adjusting his game this late in his career to be a better fit in the system. |
