In fairness to Coller he's not entirely wrong. The 2014/15 sabres have a bunch of good players capable of putting up decent numbers but what ultimately makes them a bad team is that there's no elite presence.

You add a Kopitar/Crosby/Stamkos up front and a Doughty/Weber on the blue line and suddenly those good players look very good...perhaps even good enough to earn a roster spot on a national team they have no business being on.

It's also easier to get open in training camp. I just hate when guys fall in love with the pre-season/camp hero's. There is a reason 3 teams let him go before we got him.

In 2 years I would agree. Not yet though. We have Myers and Gorges as the only true top 4 defensemen. Risto/Pysyk/McCabe are unproven and young.

As far as forwards, we have 2-3 legitimate top 6 players, in 2 years we will have more

No doubt our team is still a bit too young and I'd say that's the one thing Coller (and I) really didn't account for. But aside for perhaps lack of experience I think the point is still valid.
