That may be a bit optimistic. Peca was a 40+ point guy over his career and had speed. Not sure Girgensons can get that high regularly, but it would definitely be nice.

His linemates will be key.

He had 22 points on an epically bad team this year as a 19-20 year old. I think producing 40+ points consistently is easy to expect.

he had 22 pts last season, which isn't bad considering that he turned 20 in January and was on one of the worst teams in over 45 years...

If we are talking consistency, then I am leaning more towards 15/15 club that is a shut down defensive C. When this team gets better talent he will be used in a shutdown and not scordig role, IMO.

I'd be willing to bet he's no longer a center in 2-3 years. I think he will be better on the wing.

Ummm zemgus has speed, he gets breakaways just lacks finish which will come in time. He is usually the first guy fore checking and back checking. Not sure what games you were watching but the guy isn't slow by any means. Zemgus will have a stellar year this year and everyone will love him.

don't know...he's still very young...made the jump from ushl to ahl to nhl in two seasons...consistency is a major hurdle for every player

....depends on the 2015 Draft.

It is still very reasonable to expect him to offer 40-50 points with regularity

That's true. But he had the smarts to get the breakaway opportunity. Big Mike Grier fan.

Maybe Terry will fund it!

That and the center prospects we have already.

IMO Girgensons will be too good to be a 3rd liner. He reminds me of Dustin Brown (before he fell off this year statistically)

I think he will be the hard working winger that will create space, play responsibly and in every situation.

My hope is that Brown is a Poor Man's Zemgus.

That would be ideal for me.

A couple player articles I found

From Gorges:
"I've had good conversations with management, ownership, training staff, all those types of people and what's getting me excited to play is that they're all great people. And that's what you want to be involved in, working with people that want to do the right thing."

"We're a young team, a team with a lot of upside, a lot of potential," he said of the Sabres.

"Once we make that work, put the work boots on and play as a team, I think we have a lot of potential. I'm excited about it."

This one is about Reinhart:

“He’s a high-end talent and also extremely intelligent,” Sabres’ general manager Tim Murray told NHL.com. “That’s what you see shift to shift, the intelligence. Some shifts it doesn’t work with the puck, other shifts it does. But you see he’s always on the right side of the puck. He’s always around the puck.

“That’s why he has the puck so much; not because of his high-end skill, but he knows where to go to get the puck, he knows where to go when he has the puck. He’s an extremely intelligent hockey player.”

Nolan has had a few guys have those uncharacteristic seasons under him. I wonder how much of a coincidence it really is
- sbroads24

Nolan has a way of eeking everything out of a player to suit his system. With that said he also dumbs down some players talents to make them fit into it as well. Kind of a double edged sword. Nolan had nothing to do with Jason Blake. He hated him along with the rest of the team. Was not well liked by anyone and that was one of the main reasons he wasn't resigned contrary to popular belief. Toronto found out how much of a POS cancer he was when he arrived.
Would over extend shifts and cut into other players ice time fairly consistently to the point where Nolan was screaming at him on the bench just about every game.

And aside from Blake, none of those career years were worth writing home about. He largely gets some bad players to play mediocre hockey. When he brings out an all-star caliber year in somebody, then I'll lend credence to that theory.
- buffalofan19

Mike Sillinger was an awesome two way hockey player. Fit perfectly into our line up.

While they probably won't be very good this year, I'm still excited for the season. Things are on the upswing, IMO. Considering where they came from this past year, it's hard to imagine going anywhere but up at this point.

Yeah, I don't expect them to have that oft-seen chance to sneak into the playoffs or anything, but I don't think they'll be the worst team in the NHL this year.

And as many have said this summer, at least the games should look much better.

I just want the games to be entertaining. Last season was painful. It was hard to watch. It's one thing to be bad. It's entirely another to be THAT bad.
