how is it stupid? i used to play baseball and the warning tracked saved my life many times i can see it being useful in hockey - 2Real
Because a warning track in baseball is actually helpful. It's to save you from Aaron Rowanding your face. You concentrate on the ball...you're running with your head up. You're not looking at the wall.
In hockey, you know where the wall is. It's different than a warning track in baseball. It's just part of the awareness you have. I played for years and never, even when I was little, did I think "oh poop where's the wall let me look for the wall". Nothing would change. |

disclaimer....i didnt read the article but i like the concept. It may look silly but these players have not stopped drilling players into the boards while, the hitee is in a vulnerable position. Youth hockey has instituted placing a stop sign on the back of jerseys as a visual aid. If there is a "warning track" on the ice, though it may look silly, may help prevent a dangerous hit from occuring. - KINGKENZO
The stop signs don't do poop either.
I've had stop signs on the back of my sweaters and have been hit from behind. I've seen other kids get hit from behind too.
If someone's mind is made up to wreck you, they're going to wreck you. It doesn't matter what you have on your back. The game is so fast, even at the youth level, you just make an instinctive decision and you go with it. If that decision is to plaster someone's face against the wall, then that's what you're going to do. It just doesn't matter. |

You'd still know where the wall is. How many times have you seen a kid or adult just go smashing into the boards unimpeded like aaron rowand?
Besides, a 1 foot wide line isn't going to save you. You can't slow down and/or stop on a dime that fast at any kind of speed if you're not ready for it. That's why warning tracks are like 6 feet wide. |

Easy solution: retractable spikes on the backs of jerseys that are triggered by proximity sensors along the boards. |

Lowering the volume of the music? - tangent_man
There will be no music at all. Everyone must stay seated in their seats at all times. No talking or yelling. No slouching. |

Sometimes it's accidental, a lot of times, it's simply about a lack of respect. |

I understand that. But I don't want to move read and vorcek to try and jump start vinny at the risk of losing the effectiveness they bring on the lines they already play with.
Also as Berube said in a recent interview he talked to Vinny and he might have to change his game a little. Maybe playing with simmonds and raffl or whoever he has to grind out shifts more. Raffl had decent skills to make plays and Simmonds can work the greasy areas. - J35Bacher
We've been giving Vinnie the leftovers of linemate choices and expecting him to be plugged in. That's been the issue. Vinnie's got skills that you can use but you have to take care of his limitations. there are 3 linemates that could help him become productive because they are good playmakers. Read, Voracek and Giroux. My vote is for Read and to leave Voracek and Grioux together.
Schenn-G-Voracek
Read-Vinnie-Simmonds
Umberger/Bellamere-Coots-Akeson/Raffl
Leftovers + Rinaldo
Until we build a line around Vinnie instead of trying to insert him in somewhere he is not going to produce, and we're going to have to pay his salary on another team. We give him a decent linemate and trade possibilities open up as we start showing what he can do with a playmaker.
We are unfortunately short on playmakers... unless Bellamere or Umberger gels with Vinnie... and Bellamere could really surprise. |

I see what your saying but Vinny isn't our future. Building lines around Giroux and Couturier are. Yes we need Vinny to get going but as Berube said he might have to change his game a little. We talk about getting Courturier more involved offensively well then we should not take Read off his line. There is cheistry there. I feel like the Couturier line could do what Bergeron does for Boston in a way. Play very solid in there own zone but also contribute offensively. |

I will miss seeing Steve Coates on television but hey, I loved watching Bryzgalov interviews. A little humor and a laugh is good for the soul. |
