Clarke was, hands down, the hardest working player I ever saw in any sport. Watching him play was just a treat. He went all out, every second of every shift and what makes it even more impressive is, that in his heyday, he often played upwards of 25 minutes per game. Just unreal!

Orr was the first non Flyer to really stand out to me. You could just see that he was moving in a whole other gear than everyone else on the ice.

Another funny memory is watching Gordie Howe during his last season, 79-80, lay out Al Hill of the Flyers with a nasty elbow. Even at age 52, no one really wanted to mess with Gordie!

i discovered hockey in 79-80 and was able to see some greats at the end of their careers like clarke but also just missed guys like parent, which sucks, just like potvin. just ask rangers fans.

I saw a lot of the same guys you did, but was either too young to fully appreciate them or too much a fan of the Flyers to really appreciate the greatness.

I do remember seeing Gordie nail Al Hill.

I dont know, it is hard to rag on Soderstrom- a guy who had a heart issue during his playing time here. Remember they had to run the wire into his heart and do some muscle shocking or burning to clear it up. I dont know how that would affect us mentally let alone a pro athlete. And he did have the pleasure of playing during an era of "rebuilding" the Flyers when there wasnt much in front of him on D

I gave the edge to Mason over Esche cause I have been really impressed at how hard he has worked to turn his game around since coming to Philly. Lappy just missed the cut at RW, I gave it to Dornhoefer and Kapanen over him mainly due to time of service as a Flyer. I also gave Poulin the slightest of edges over Brind'amour, but you really can't go wrong with either one.
