List of my top ten "they played for us?" Euros:

1- Viacheslav Butsayev. Should be remembered by some here. Sixth round pick in 1990, racked up 37 pts in 99 games and was a plus 5. Why did they ever move him? Played another seven years in the NHL, scoring 3 more goals and 3 more assists. Oh.

2- Tomas Divisek. 7th round pick. Played 5 games and 1 goal. Hey, that was one more than Ville Leino last year.

3- Milos Holan - 3rd round gem. 8GP, 1G, 1A, -4. Moved on to Anahiem playing 2 more years. Let go after his 16 game, -12 year in '95-96.

4- Martin Hostak - another 3rd rounder. 55GP, 3G, 11A. That's all I got.

5- Patrik Juhlin - a 2rd round prize. Got into 56 games racking up 7G, 13Pts. My personal favorite. I bought his auto'd puck at an auction. Paid $5. Anybody interested? Bidding starts at .25, shipping free.

6- Tomi Kallio - Can't blame us for wasting a draft pick here. He was the Av's 4th rounder but found his way here in time to contribute 1 goal in 7 games.

7- Frantisek Kucera - a 4th round find for the 'Hawks, totaled 2GP, zero points, and a -2. Thanks.

8- Vaclav Pletka - 7th rounder, 1GP. Zero points. Hey, at least he wasn't a minus.

9- Magnus Roupe - 9th round pick. 40GP. 3G, 8A, -5. Disappeared after that. Strange.

10- Anatoli Semenov - 70GP. Probably the best known of the bunch. Also added 4G, 19Pts. But...he was a plus 1. Actually has his name on the Cup. Bragging rights if you can guess who with without looking it up.

Was Semenov in the last Oiler team to win a Cup?

The one chance I could have saw Bryzgalov play, he backed up Bob due to playing the night before. Bryzgalov to me had ability. Ability many outside of Philadelphia overlooked. He was under the microscope after making certain comments on HBO. For example, ducking while allowing a goal. I'm sure he was looking for a hole to see the shot but try telling that to Mike Milbury. That HBO series was the worst thing to happen to Bryz. The camera happened to be in the locker room while the guy just happen to be making small talk about how endangered tigers are. The guy likes to read and watch discovery channel, so what? The media absolutely had it out for this guy and sooner or later it was as if he couldn't win, so he stopped caring. In turn, he fell out of favor with the organization.
- SuperSchennBros

He fell out of favor with the organization because he often wasn't a good teammate and his performance on the ice didn't consistently justify the headaches.

Yup, he threw his dmen under the bus on more than one occasion and thats not going to sit well with your teammates. IIRC, as well as he played in Phoenix, few of his teammates were sad to see him go.

Yup. Add to that the sad fact that he just wasn't really that good of a puck-stopper.

Ooops. I was wrong.

According to Wiki (take for what it's worth), Semenov played 2 PO games for the 1990 Cup winning Oil team but his name was not stamped on the Trophy for failing to meet the games played requirement.

But good call, nevertheless.

Patrick Juhlin... I watched him in the Olympics, (can't remember if it was Albertville or Lillehammer) and he had a great run there. The puck seemed to follow him around all tournament. I was thrilled to find out the Flyers had his rights.

I was not so thrilled when it quickly became apparent his game wasnt going to translate to the NHL.

I don't think the Flyers were quite patient enough with Juhlin. They expected him to have an immediate impact like Renberg. When he didn't, they lost patience rather quickly. After he was dispatched to the AHL, it was clear he was a little too good for that level.

Lasse actually showed a ton of heart. He was stuck playing too many minutes on one of the worst teams the Philadelphia Flyers ever fielded.

Really?

Gagne-Briere-Knuble
Hartnell-Carter-Upshall
Umberger-Richards-Lupul
Cote-Dowd-Kapanen

Timonen-Smith

I loved this line up but I feel like Lasse Kukkonen was the 7th defenseman and I feel like I'm missing someone on D. I know who did we move to Dallas and flip a pick for Modry? I know Prospal was a deadline deal. Ryan Parent? Jim Vandermeer?

Like I said, I didn't have much of an issue with him until HBO was allowed in the dressing room. Maybe the Pronger before his injury made up for the shortcomings I didn't notice. Burdon was was paired with Cale for the magority of the season with Gustafsson spotting. We also had to upgrade the defense later that year once Meszaros was lost to us and had to add Kubina and Grossmann. I hated our D once Pronger went down. Carle and Burdon together, Meszaros and Lilja...

Yes really. The year the Flyers finished far and away dead last in the league netting the lottery #2 pick (JvR).

You mean when we aquired him at the deadline during an already lost season.

No that was the year before. I think Lasse came in after that season.

EDIT: okay the deadline of lost season.

Kukkonen came from Chicago in a three way deal that included Detroit. Calder went to Detroit, Kukkanen came here and the Hawks got a draft pick. Coburn, Upshall, Biron and Parent were also acquired along with a first round pick that brought us Hartnell and Timonen by season's end. Best trade deadline to my memory.

He wasn't very physically strong but managed to block everything. He was Kookoo?

Was Kukkanen always number 3?

That was Kukkonen's issue. Solid positionally, and a competitor. But for a stay at home defensive defenseman, he wasn't big enough or strong enough to consistently handle NHL forwards. Which made him a part time 6/7 defenseman at best at the NHL level.
