A nasty flu isn't normally self-induced.

Nice of you to stop in, though.

Did anyone catch who NHL.com consider to be the best centers in the league with Giroux being ninth?

I was prepared to rip this article until I saw the 8 in front of him. And to be honest you can make an argument for almost every one.

I'm still willing to rip the article because Tarvares hasn't done anything to prove he's better then Giroux yet. Kopitar might be a touchy subject but he has the support Giroux doesn't, which isn't considered when you look at all the other centers. Giroux is an elite passer, a two way center, a solid faceoff man, a dynamic playoff performer and he probably doesn't have the same supporting cast these other centers do. Even Bergeron is considered better, probably because of his 2011 Cup and the team he's on but Bergeron isn't anywhere near the offensive player Giroux is, even with the help.

What the (frank) does Giroux have to do to prove his worth?

i dislike the Emery signing, but what can you do. at least it's not brodeur
- wilsonecho91

i would have liked them to move on, but at the same time, i'm not unhappy with retaining him on another 1 year deal. he can still play.

i'm a little bit surprised brodeur hasn't signed somewhere else by now. i don't think he'll catch on with a team once the season starts unless a lengthy injury somewhere creates an opening. would be weird to see in him in another uniform. he'll still have a terrible hat job.

I think Brodeur should retire. He's doing his legacy no favours.

There were guys I would rather have had, but the difference between them and Emery is not very great. Guys like Greiss, Stalock, Johnson & Montoya.

Emery also has a good relationship with Mason, and who knows, that may be beneficial to Mason, having a guy he's friends with as a back up to support and push him

we've had this discussion before...only a couple of guys i would have been interested in.

i think there's something to be said for consistency/stability in the goaltending tandem, which the flyers rarely, if ever, have.

Agreed. My lone concern is if Mason is out for an extended period or really falls apart, because I have doubts that Emery can handle the starting job for an extended period. As a back-up, I have zero issue with him, and quite honestly, I like him. He's a battler and worked his ass off to make it back after his hip injury.

i fall right down the middle.

sure there are probably better backups out there but i like emery for the salary he's making. i have no complaints there.

but i'm not sure he can handle the load if mason were to go down for a long stretch. especially with this defense in front of him.

Leighton/Boucher lasted longer as a tandem. Esche/Burke were teammates in Philly for about 3 months.

Esche was very solid for the Flyers, but he really was very good in the playoff that year. He's the GM of the Utica Comets of the AHL now

i saw him is a suit and was like wtf?

i hope he doesn't stain his collar spitting his tobacco.

but yeah, he made a left pad save in that series that was by far the best save he's ever made in his life. i was off the couch. think i almost put my head through the ceiling.

Yes, Hextall & Snow were good friends, too. But as a Flyers goalie tandem they didn't last that long. Burke arrived in February and was gone by June.

He was incredible in the 3OT game vs Buffalo in the 2006 playoffs.

I was stunned when I heard he was a GM
