1. Yes, most people were aware of it (from what I've read)
2. Their NMC's are similar to the ones that Hartnell had, unless I'm mistaken. - jmatchett383
I named the players who have a No-movement or a No trade. Hartnell had one or the other...and no longer a Flyer. |

I had no idea L. Schenn and Grossman had one and I'm not sure how I feel about trading for Umberger's deal that was set to be bought out that is also comes with a no trade. - SuperSchennBros
It's the nature of the beast. Most teams have several no trade or no move clauses. Hell Detroit gave one to Jonas Gustavsson last season.
In the case of the Flyers, I believe that only Giroux and Lecavalier have full NMCs. the rest are just limited no trades-in fact I know Schenn & Grossmann are limited(at least according to cap geek) and I'm pretty sure the rest are as well. The last two significant deals they signed(Mason & MacDonald) have no clauses.
EDIT: Also, if a guy waives his NTC/NMC, it's up to the team that acquires him if they want to honor it. I believe that the NTCs for Carter and Richards got nuked when they were traded to Columbus and LA |

Hartnell had a NMC, not a NTC. He was traded. - MJL
I'm confused as to where Hartnell is coming from. |

Yes. My point was simply that a NTC/NMC does not mean a player cannot be traded...and that most people are aware of our over-abundance of NTC/NMC deals. But thank you for bringing that up to remind us all. |

I'm a little surprised to see that Streit and MacDonald do not have one but Grossmann who signed his deal with the Flyers does have one. |

He's not sure why I mentioned that Hartnell had a NMC after he brought up all of our players that currently have NMC/NTC in their contracts. The connection was (possibly deliberately) not made. |

That's a really good deal for them. He had a really strong year last year. |

Yeah, it seems that the Flyers decided to get away from the awarding of clauses after the new deal for Hartnell, outside of the Lecavalier contract, anyhow.
I'm guessing the deal with Streit being an over 35 one gave them a bit of leverage, and perhaps Mason felt he owned the Flyers a bit for giving him a fresh start. |

I brought him up simply to imply that NTcs/NMCs are not 100% trade blocks. I figured the connection was fairly obvious, I guess not. |

I can speak for myself. My comment wasn't brought up with Hartnell in mind. Otherwise I could have pointed out that Pronger (A current Flyers contract) also has a no-moment. I could have also brought up Briere and Bryzgalov's who moved on a year ago. I wasn't thinking of these 4 players because they aren't on active and current roster. |

I think they were trying to make the point that Hartsy was dealt away under a movement-restriction clause. So, if the team is in a pinch, they'll probably find a way.
It can be done, is the point. |

Grossmann had a pretty fantastic end of season and playoffs when the Flyers got him in 2012. They had no idea his kness would deteriorate at the rate they have. |

Likely the cost of doing business...I bet the deal they discussed with Carle had some sort of NTC, as well. |

I never implied that a player couldn't be moved under the same circumstances. Hartnell wouldn't be the first player to be asked to waive his no-trade or no-moment. |

That is a good deal. I think it took the wind out of their sails when Cooke took him out in that playoff series. |

...okay then.
I...I don't know what is happening.
EDIT: I mean more often than not when people bring up NM/TCs they're on the road that says this team is going to be strapped to contracts in the future, etc. I guess that's not what you were going for then. |

Ok so now I see what's happening.
Yes, both of those are surprising. |
