Agents everywhere working off the Kane and Toews deals now I'm sure. Thank god we locked up G and Jake when we did.
Bobby Ryan could get 8 million as the top free agent next year. Yikes. - hereticpride
Kane and Toews really worked over that Hawks GM. They are good but they arent the best. |

He's been a huge part of their success over the last six years. 351 points in 442 regular season games, and 72 points in 86 playoff games. He's also a solid faceoff guy, a strong defender and is rarely injured. |

I like the term... no sense in signing him past his 35th bday... if they had to trade a higher cap-hit for that, that's OK IMO. |

If Jake has two more 60-70 point seasons, it's going to take something like a seven year, $50 million deal to keep him here. And I'd be OK with that because he will only be 27, and like Krejci he's been very durable so far. |

Just curious: Is this a conscious effort on the part of the Flyers to bring in teammates of guys they've drafted in order to get a closer look at a specific player or to maybe find a new way to evaluate players they've already drafted? |

You could argue that when Mike Richards put Krejci out with a solid hit in that 2010 playoff series that that was the turning point of that series. |

It probably was. That was such an important play. |

Hypothetically, if the Flyers wanted to make room for Alderson on the 4th line at some point during the season by sending Rinaldo to the AHL, do think the fact he's signed for three more seasons means he would get thru waivers? - Feanor
I'm not Bill but I would think so. It depends on how he is playing at the time and the other GMs' needs obviously. Does the fact that it is three years versus 1 year make a difference, I don't know. I suggested it as a joke yesterday. |

I was noticing the same pattern. However, each of those players deserves a look just based on past spurts of accomplishment IMHO. Seems odd they were not drafted but then again, many good players were never drafted. |

Or maybe the fact that Simon Gagne returned from injury and Leighton came in for Boucher?? |

What's your take on lier ? Seems like a late bloomer and has a decent frame. I still can't believe you guys got rid of that McGinn kid I loved him he had some skill a ton of heart and never backed down - blizzzard
Leier has excellent speed and two-way game. He's got a shot at an NHL career as a quality bottom-six forward if he continues to develop.
I think JS hit the nail on the head with his assessment of McGinn.

Personally, If I'm paying Voracek 7+ mill a season he better be an elite RW. Maybe 7 mill isnt bad with the cap going up but Im thinking in the present. |

Not as an exact comparison, but Krejci is their Giroux. While Couturier is our Bergeron if you get what I'm saying. Krejci is probably a better all around player then Giroux is. And is underrated. |

Well if youre gonna go that far than you could say that Krejci is a better all around player than Crosby. Crosby and Giroux are defensively sound enough while putting up elite offensive numbers. Krejci is tier 2. Giroux and Crosby Tier 1 |

Trust me, as salaries escalate, deals that Giroux and Krejci signed for are flat out steals. |

You're probably right. By the time Stamkos is eligible for free agency he'll demand over 12 mill. |

When? At the time the cap was first implemented? I remember Lindros getting paid 9 mill in the late 90's |

0 goals, 4 assists, -3 in two rounds in the POs this year (yes he has been a beast in the past). If G gave us that we would be screwed. Go take a cold shower and cool off the hot feelings for the Boston boy. Bergeron makes almost 2M less then him per. It's not a terrible deal but not amazing. Also less then Gs, wonder why? |

That's because Crosby is far and away an elite offensive player, with Giroux not far behind. Krejci isn't in their class offensively, but not far behind. But Krejci is more sound defensively, and in playing away from the puck. While still putting up high offensive numbers. |

Boucher wasn't playing particularly poorly. Remember, he and Leighton split the Game 5 shutout. When Krejci went down, that was a major blow to Boston's offense. Gagne definitely helped, but Boston probably gets 3-4 more goals with Krejci in the lineup over the series. |
